RIGHT WAY MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL, INCORPORATED Unchanging Truth for Changing Lives SPECIAL EDITION NEWSLETTER July 2017 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR S GREETINGS Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Words fail me as I try to express praise to God and thanks to you for your help as we went through God s open door. Thanks for being a part of the team for our global outreach under the theme Transformational Leadership. We were able to share because of your efforts and you will also share in the rewards with us. The Book of Daniel tells us that the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits (Daniel 11:32b). What the book does not mention is those people need prayer partners and supporters. Rejoice with us because God was glorified. Special thanks to Apostle O Brian Welch, who encouraged his team from Guyana to be missionaries for God and help fulfill the Great Commission. I still marvel at the faith of the team from Guyana, who trusted God for their funds. God honored their faith. The outstanding things for me were (1) the miracle of God in providing all the funds for our outreach teams (USA and Guyana); (2) The peace and unity amongst us, which can only be explained by God s blessing and presence; and (3) the souls that accepted Christ as Savior. Salvation is always a miracle. We found open hearts willing to receive the transformational word of God. Rev. Steve Nkum gave us the invitation. His team of ministers were outstanding! Dr. Jerry Porter, General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene, made contact for me to connect with some of our Nazarene servants in Ghana. I have included highlights from my visit with these servants in this newsletter. Special thanks to Doris Newton, our team recorder, who prepared this Newsletter. May it bless you as you read and may each of you experience the joy of being a part of God s program. If you are not already part of our Global Outreach Team, please let us know if you would like to be. You will receive our monthly teachings. Because He lives, Estelle Gross Cyrus Estelle Gross Cyrus Executive Director Right Way Ministries International, Inc. 1

RIGHT WAY MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL, INC (RWMI) JULY 2017 RWMI GHANA MISSION From April 14-24, 2017, RWMI participated in Easter Conventions, led revivals, and conducted health and wellness and transformational leadership workshops in Ghana, West Africa. Dr. Cyrus, along with a 10-member team of leaders from the United States and Guyana, South America, completed the nearly 2-week mission assignment and ministered in three of Ghana s 10 regions Accra (Accra city), Eastern (Korforidua), and Central (Agona Swedru). See highlights from the trip and testimonials from team members. ************************************************************** Dr. Estelle Gross Cyrus, Executive Director, accepted the invitation from Pastor Justice Hayford Abaidooh-Aggrey, Secretary, on behalf of Pastor Stephen Okyere Nkum, Senior Minister, First Baptist Association and Leader of the Swedru Baptist Association of Churches in Agona Swedru, Central Region, Ghana to teach a curriculum on transformational leadership development to leaders participating in the churches annual Easter convention. Dr. Cyrus and a team of RWMI affiliated pastors, teachers, and other church officers from the United States and Guyana, South America traveled to Ghana as a mission team. Elson Davis, Guyana team.] 2

RIGHT WAY MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL, INC (RWMI) July 2017 The Swedru Baptist Association of Churches held its 21st annual Easter Convention in Agona Swedru, Central Region, Ghana. Approximately 200 members representing 20 association churches participated in one week of worship services, that concluded in a close-out service on Easter Sunday! The day began with an annual parade of colorful uniforms and dance as participants entered the convention area. (photo below) RWMI s mission team joined the worship service. Dr. Cyrus (photo below-left) offered a dedication prayer for leaders chosen to plan the 2018 convention. Pastor O'Brian Welch, Guyana, S.A. (photo on right, 2 nd from Dr. Cyrus s right) offered prayers for leaders as well. He also had delivered the Word of God during the pre-easter day worship service the Saturday earlier. 3

RIGHT WAY MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL, INC (RWMI) July 2017 RWMI MISSION TEAM CONDUCTED WORKSHOPS / REVIVIALS / EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP / HEALTH & WELLNESS WORKSHOPS During the week following Easter, the five preachers from RMWI s team began a series of teaching workshops on transformational leadership development. Each also preached during revival services at various churches throughout the central region Photos: Rev. Geraldine Tompkins (top) and Apostle O Brian Welch (bottom) speak on transformational leadership at First Baptist Church, accompanied by a translator. Church leaders participate (center). Dr. Cyrus began the workshop by teaching from Romans 8:1-22, emphasizing the importance of presenting our bodies as living sacrifices and being transformed by renewing our minds. When building up new leaders, we need to stop looking at them in a limited way must get people to read the bible. It is the only thing that can transform our minds -Dr. Estelle Cyrus Apostle O Brian Welch, using various scriptures, taught that leaders must write the vision down. Keep notes. Keep a tablet with you to write notes. Leaders must speak the truth at all times and that transformational leaders must believe in miracles because this takes you out of the carnal and into Spirit where all things are possible. 4 Rev. Geraldine Tompkins taught from Matthew 28:18-20 on "Teaching to Change Lives. Rev. Tompkins shared that transformation is more than an exchange of information. Knowledge alone does not result in true discipleship nor does mere behavior modification. She compared the life of Judas Iscariot to that of Jesus as a model of information vs. transformation. She emphasized that the Word of God must be taught to produce mature followers. Transformed leaders must: 1) Allow the Holy Spirit to select the method; 2) Begin with the end in mind; 3) Model the transformed life; and, 4) Stay with the word expecting to see transformed lives.

-Health & Wellness Workshop- -Testimonials- This was the first trip to Ghana for all of the RWMI mission team members. Here are some of their impressions: Carol Whitney, Guyana, South America-My testimony is the eagerness and openness with which we were received as we did the door- to- door evangelism. No one turned us away and yes, souls were saved. Secondly, I was amazed at how they worshipped. You could see the sincerity of how they worshipped. I'm encouraged to take worship to the next level. Doris Newton, Washington, DC, USA-- I will remember how the Ghanaian Christians showed their love of God by their praising and dancing! I was really blessed by this! Team member and nurse, Minister Sylvia Brooks, conducted a health and wellness workshop to approximately 50 women. She emphasized various scriptures from the book of Solomon about a woman s uniqueness and from 1 st Corinthians 12 about the importance of glorifying God in our bodies and spirits, which belong to Him. Women can do this through resting, exercising, and eating healthy foods. Brooks also presented toiletry gift bags to the women who then presented them to the younger women. Sylvia Brooks, Maryland, USA--The one thing that stood out for me during this mission trip to Ghana was that my heart was moved by the prayer requests of the people of Ghana during many of the encounters we had. They asked for prayers regarding their wayward children, the desire to have children, for healing, for jobs, and to grow closer to the Lord! I learned that the things people care about cross all cultural borders and the people of Ghana are no different from anyone else. Knowing this shuts down any tunnel-vision thinking I may have had about how different we are. I felt that I was being transformed by the renewing of my mind right along with the people of Ghana. I look forward to returning there. Delon Ogle, Guyana, South America-All praise, honor, and glory to God for the many things He has done. I want to highlight the contentment and receptiveness of our Ghanaian believers. They did not complain even though they could have and had many things they could have brought to our attention, but they didn't. I thank God for the opportunity to serve in another nation and with another people but within the body of Christ. It was an awesome experience to co-labor with these beautiful people of God in our own unique way. The Blessings of God on our two Pastors, Pastor Welch and Pastor Cyrus, for vision and God s obedience. Karen Whitney, Guyana, South America-Even as most of the women's cries was for a better life, they strapped their babies on their backs and praised and danced before the Lord with great joy. 5

MISSION: REVIVAL/EVANGELISM RWMI mission team pastors and intercessors also used their gifts during revival services and in door-to-door evangelistic outreach efforts each afternoon prior to the nightly revival services. Guyana team members Rev. Seonaid Richmond, Petura Mcfarlane, Delon Ogle, Rev. Elson Davis and US team members Sylvia Brooks and Rev. Tompkins were especially enthusiastic about evangelizing in the communities! Each night during mission team devotional service, these members talked about their experiences of sharing the gospel with the Ghanaian people. Praise God that some people received salvation because of their love! Pastors Estell Cyrus, P. O Brian Welch, Seonaid Richmond, Elson Davis, and Geraldine Tompkins preached at area Baptist churches including First, Frontier, Resurrection, and Ebenezer Baptist. Dr. Cyrus preached each night at the Frontier Baptist Church. [photo-top- Dr. Cyrus with Frontier Baptist Church Pastor (left) and our host leader]. Dr. Cyrus spoke on Your Choices Determine Your Destiny based on Psalms 1. Several people came forward for prayer during altar call each night [photo-bottom]. MISSION: BROTHERLY KINDNESS Dr. Cyrus had been communicating by email with the First Baptist Association s Secretary, Rev, Justice Hayford Abaidooh-Aggrey for travel planning over an 8 month period. She was expecting to meet him in person when she learned he would not be able to meet the team due to health challenges. Here was a great opportunity to demonstrate kindness to a brother in need. Three team members made the 2.5 hour drive with the host pastors to meet Rev. Justice at his home. Dr. Cyrus and Apostle O Brian Welch gave needed financial resources to Rev. Justice and his family. The full mission team also gave financial support. As a result, Rev. Justice was able to purchase the artificial leg he needed. This is what our Lord would have us do. We were grateful for the opportunity to give to a fellow Christian servant! Since we returned home, we have learned that Rev. Justice has received his artificial leg and is learning to walk with it! RIGHT WAY MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL, INC (RWMI) July 2017 DR. CYRUS WELCOMED AT GHANA CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE IN ACCRA, CAPITOL CITY The Right Way Ministries International (RWMI) team were blessed in their outreach to Ghana (April 14-24, 2017). Dr. Estelle Gross Cyrus had an opportunity to meet the newly appointed Ghana Outreach Missions Director of the Church of the Nazarene, Dr. Evans Katanya and family. Dr. Cyrus and a fellow team member also participated in the Nazarene Church s Easter Convention worship services on the evening of Saturday, April 15. Rev. Dr. Evans Katanya is originally from Zimbabwe and his wife is from Kenya. They are just settling into their new home and assignments in Ghana, effective January 2017. Dr. Katanya is also serving as Academic Dean for English at the Nazarene college in Accra, Ghana. Mrs. Njeri Katanya works with a young children s program The RWMI team observed with joy that no matter whether the denomination was Baptist or Nazarene, the Ghanaian Christians shared in common their joy of praising our Lord in singing and dancing!
