[As we have worked our way through The End Times using our End Times Chart we have looked at,] [Calvary and the Dividing of Time] [Hades and God s revealed plan for mortal death in our time.] [The Church Age and God s revelation concerning this dispensation of grace.] [Last Week] [The Judgment Seat of Christ or the Bema of Christ, the accounting we will make, and the rewards we can receive.] [Today we will look into The Marriage Supper of the Lamb and those glorious events that follow the Bema of Christ.] [It s Timing Revealed - From our text we discover that the Marriage Supper of the Lamb takes place just before the second advent of Christ,] [Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. ] [Revelation 19:14-16 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.] [Verses 11-16 describe the second advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is that time at the end of the Tribulation Period when the heavens will roll back as a scroll and our Lord will be seen riding His white horse down onto this earth, His hosts following after Him (Rev 6.12-17). Our Lord on that occasion will stand upon the Mount of Olives, there will be a great earth quake and the Mount will be rent in Page 1 of 8

two (Zach 14.4). Our Lord will then reign physically upon this earth for a thousand years, called The Millennium. Glory to God.] [The Second Advent is seen occurring right after the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. So the Marriage Supper of the Lamb takes place in the presence of our Lord, after the rapture, and after the Bema of Christ, but before the Millennial reign of Christ.] [one must also realize that the Bema of Christ and the Marriage Supper take place in the Presence of our Lord while the Great Tribulation Period is occurring upon this corrupt earth.] (John 14.1-3; cf. Matt 25.1-13) [In order to understand the Marriage Supper of the Lamb we need to understand a little something of the Jewish Tradition of a betrothal and wedding.] John 14.1 [Illustration A Jewish Betrothal and Wedding In the biblical Jewish tradition when a man and woman were betrothed to be married the bridegroom and his father would come to the bride s father and offer a dowry. The two fathers would come to terms and the dowry would be paid and the couple were legally espoused to be married. This espousal was considered a legally binding betrothal.] [The bridegroom would then return home with his father, never having known his betrothed wife intimately. The young man would then work to prepare a place for his wife and coming family. Typically a young man would build his house onto his father s house and would work upon it until it would meet his father s approval. This would usually take about a year to complete.] [When the father would finally look at the preparations and say, Son, you are ready, let s go get your bride. Then they would go to the brides village and home and bring her home to her wedding and new residence. There would be a wedding ceremony, and a great celebration, and the young man and woman would consummate their marriage with great joy.] [This picture is expressed over and over again in the New Testament. Our Lord Jesus Christ said,] Page 2 of 8

John 14.1 [John 14:1-3 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. ] [As born again Christians we are betrothed to our Lord Jesus Christ. We are His bride and we belong to Him. He is preparing a place for us and one day soon and very soon he will come to take us home to Him.] [Now, understand that in that day of limited communication. The bride s home and the bridegroom s home were often separated by great distances. So the bride and her family would not know when the bridegroom would come to take his bride home to their marriage. So the bride was tasked with watching and being ready day-by-day, moment-by-moment.] [This anticipation is best pictured for us in the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matt 25.1-13). Where the text says, [Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. ] [My brother s and sister s in Christ our Lord has been preparing a place for us and we must always be ready for His soon arrival.] [John 14:1-2 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. ] [A Prepared Place - Our Lord has been preparing a place for us for nearly two thousand (2000) years. What must that place be like? It took our God only six days to create everything we see and study in our universe.] [Think of the expanse and wonder of the universe. Stars upon untold stars. Galaxies upon galaxies. We build bigger and more powerful telescopes, launch them into space so we can get a better view, and discover that there are more and more galaxies in the apparently infinite expanse of space. All of these created and put in place by our mighty and glorious Lord God Almighty. Yet all of these were put in place by our God in a mere six days.] Page 3 of 8

[All of creation really does display the glory and power of God.] [Our Lord said nearly two thousand years ago I go to prepare a place for you. And He continues to prepare that place until our Heavenly Father will eventually say, All is ready, go and get your bride. ] [Consider again,] [Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb....] [I ve got to ask you my friend, are you born again? Is that place that our Lord has been preparing for all these years your future home? ] [You don t want to miss being in that place.] B. A Promised Place (John 14.3; Rev 19.6-7) [- Our Lord also said,] [John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. ] [Our Lord is coming again and when He comes He will take us to the Bema of Christ, then the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and into our Eternal Home, The New Jerusalem.] [Listen to our text in Revelation,] [Revelation 19:6-7 6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come,...] [When the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is come then the promises of God given toward us will be fully realized. God s eternal promises will be fulfilled.] [Our Lord Jesus Christ has given eternal promises to all who will put their trust in Him as their personal Lord and Savior.] [Our Lord has promised to come again and to receive unto Himself all that are His. All that are born again and a part of the eternal kingdom of the Lord Jesus Page 4 of 8

Christ have the sure promises of God that they will be brought into this glorious place.] Rev 21.22 [Are these promises your promises? ] [Are you a part of the family and kingdom of God?] [Will you be at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?] B. A Promised Place C. A Perfect Place (Rev 21.2-5, 22-27) [ I believe that after the Bema of Christ the redeemed of all ages will enter into New Jerusalem for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. When our Lord returns to reign on this earth during the Millennium, the New Jerusalem will follow after Him. As He enters Jerusalem to reign on this earth, the New Jerusalem will hover above the old Jerusalem which will be the home of all the redeemed. ] [The world will see our Lord reigning in Jerusalem and will see the New Jerusalem hovering over it.] [Why do I believe this?] [Speaking of New Jerusalem the Word of God says,] [Revelation 21:22-27 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. ] [Listen, during the Millennium the kings and nations of the earth will bring their tribute to the New Jerusalem, but nothing that defiles will come into that glorious city.] Page 5 of 8

[Understand that this is not speaking of the New Heaven and the New Earth, because New Jerusalem will rest upon that glorious place and there will be nothing that defiles in that whole creation. This is referring to this earth, before the Great WhiteThrone Judgment, during the Millennial Reign of Christ. ] [New Jerusalem will hover over the old Jerusalem and we will dwell in that glorious place. The mortal world will see that glorious place in those days, but will not enter into that immortal city.] [Now about this immortal city we read,] [Revelation 21:2-5 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.] B. A Promised Place C. A Perfect Place [Notice,] [The Presence in New Jerusalem (Rev 21.3)] [ 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.] [The Perfection In New Jerusalem (Rev 21.4-5)] [ 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.] [We will dwell in eternity, no longer subject to time and its unyielding restraints.] [We will dwell in immortality, no longer subject to grief and deep personal loss.] [We will dwell in renewed health, no longer suffering from life s decadence.] Page 6 of 8

[We will live in absolute perfection in the kingdom prepared for us by our Lord Jesus Christ.] D. A Praiseworthy Place (Rev 19.1-7) [ Notice the incessant praise that will fill that place, ] [Revelation 19:1-7 1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and 3 power, unto the Lord our God:... And again they said, Alleluia.... 4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. 5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. 6 And I Page 7 of 8 B. A Promised Place C. A Perfect Place heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him:...] [Without any doubt we will praise God and our Lord Jesus Christ with the sincerest, heartfelt praise. We will strive earnestly to give glory to the Lamb of God and to magnify Him with our whole beings.] [But look at where these praises begin,] [Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. ] [What is the bride supposed to do while the bridegroom is preparing a place for her? ] [She is to make herself ready for the wedding day.] [How about it Christian? You are the bride of Christ. The bridegroom could come at any time.] [Are you ready?] [What an incredible, glorious place He has prepared for us. Are we ready to meet him in that place?]

[Is your love for our Lord vibrant and fervent, or has it grown cold or lukewarm.] [Are your spiritual garments Pure and Prepared, or are you somewhat defiled by sin, even little permissive sins.] [Are you spiritually awake and watching with anticipation, or have you fallen spiritually asleep.] [Are you singing His praises right now in this world, so that your praise can be eternally refined and glorified in that place one day soon?] [Are you ready for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?] CrossRoads Baptist Church, January 11, 2015 B. A Promised Place C. A Perfect Place D. A Praiseworthy Place Page 8 of 8
