THE SECOND COMING REV. 19:11-21 Last week the MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB; this week the other dinner party WHICH YOU DON T WANT TO BE AT because you will be the food: THE SECOND COMING OF THE LORD! The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ this time not as the Lamb of God, but as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Jesus Himself spoke of this magnificent event. Jesus did not mention the Rapture (REV. 4) in His Olivet Discourse, but He spoke very plainly and directly of His return in glory from Heaven. MATTHEW 24 and LUKE 21 AND WE ARE WAITING STILL...
2. THE SECOND WHITE HORSE v. 11 THE DEVIL, THE ANTICHRIST and FALSE PROPHET HAVE HAD THEIR DAY, now it is time for the good guy: Almighty God, Jesus Christ. Remember, back in REV. 6:2 we saw someone ride into town on a white horse. The person in CHAPTER 6 is not the Lord, but the Antichrist who came in imitating Jesus Christ. But what follows the Antichrist coming on the scene are wars, famine and death not faithfulness, righteousness and truth as we find here in REV. 19:11. HEBREWS 10:23; NUMBERS 23:19; 1 JOHN 5:20
3. NOBODY BUT JESUS KNOWS v. 12 This must be the Lord for He alone is omniscient He knows all things and thus the reference to His eyes being like a flame of fire. Make no mistake about it, the Lord does see all, as HEBREWS 4:13 tells us. Now what is His name that He has that no one knows? I don t know, nor am I going to be foolish to even spend any time trying to figure it out. The Lord said that HE ALONE KNOWS IT NUFF SAID That is Paul s point in 1 CORINTHIANS 13:12.
4. THE BLOODY ROBE and THE WORD v. 13 As we have seen in our previous studies in REV. 16, the armies of the world will gather together to fight against the Lord from Megiddo in the north to Bozrah in the south. We read of this event in ISAIAH 63:1-6. This blood-dipped rider is called THE WORD OF GOD. In JOHN 1:1, 14 we are told Jesus is the THE WORD. Just as Jesus spoke the world into existence, here we will see Him speak the rebellious armies of the world out of existence!
5. THE ARMIES OF HEAVEN v. 14-16 HERE WE COME: The saints of the Church who are at home in heaven since the Rapture, along with the saints of every age! AND AFTER THE MEAL, we get upon our white horses and accompany the Lord back for this great battle. This is not a New Testament idea, but only seven generations from Adam a prophet spoke of this, as we are told in JUDE 14-15. PSALM 2 speaks of this, how the nations have gathered together to fight against the Lord and His Anointed. And God sits in heaven and laughs at their foolishness, NEEDING ONLY HIS WORD TO DEFEAT THEM.
6. THE ROD OF IRON I believe what we see here is the Lord using the shepherd s rod of correction upon all those who get out of line in the kingdom age. Rebellion will not be tolerated. Lawlessness will be dealt with immediately. Righteousness will fill the land. And embroidered on His robe and tattooed on His thigh is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS who has come to rule forevermore! That is one reason why PHIL. 2:5-11 says EVERY KNEE!
7. CHOOSE YOUR DINNER RESERVATIONS v. 17-20 Last week I said that you can either come to the marriage supper of the Lamb, or you can be supper for the birds of the air; instead of seeing what is on the menu, YOU WILL BE ON THE MENU! And it will not take long for the Lord to destroy the armies of the Earth... with the WORD. How long does this battle last? JOEL 1:15 tells us: NOT EVEN A DAY. That is the best the combined armies of mankind can do against Almighty God!
8. THE FATE OF THE UNHOLY TRINITY v. 20b PRAISE GOD, I will be selling popcorn to this event!! The two beasts of REV. 13 the Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown alive into the fiery lake of fire. REV. 19:20 The Apostle Paul foretold Antichrist s doom in 2 THESS. 2:8. Satan s fate is different than that of his pawns, the Antichrist and the False Prophet. REV. 20:1-3 The breathtaking glory of God the Son, standing in all His holiness, demonstrating His everlasting love to the faithful BY DEFEATING OUR ENEMY!
9. IT S YOUR CHOICE v. 21 MILLIONS, PERHAPS BILLIONS, WILL DIE, BUT NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT SUFFICIENTLY WARNED. It is after this battle that Jesus Christ will set up His kingdom and rule and reign from the throne of David for 1,000 years. GLORIOUS DAY!!! IN OUR BIBLES, FOR EVERY PROPHECY ON THE FIRST COMING OF CHRIST, THERE ARE 8 ON CHRIST S SECOND COMING. SOME LAUGH AT THIS IDEA OF THE LORD RETURNING, BUT BELIEVE IT OR NOT, JESUS IS COMING AGAIN AND WE MUST BE WATCHING, WAITING AND WORKING. TITUS 2:13-15 WHETHER YOU COME WITH HIM FROM SUPPER OR HE COMES FOR YOU AS SUPPER IS YOUR CHOICE! Choose life in Christ!
