We are deeply moved by your generosity and expressions of love. Short Excerpts Taken from Pope Francis Addresses And Homilies Faith Lights Our Way There is an urgent need... To see once again that faith is a light, for once the flame of faith dies out, all other lights begin to dim. The light of faith is unique, since it is capable of illuminating every aspect of human existence. For a light to be this powerful, it cannot come from ourselves; it must come from a more primordial source: in a word, it must come from God. Faith is born of an encounter with the living God who calls us and reveals his love, a love which precedes us and upon which we can lean for security and for building our lives. Transformed by this love, we gain fresh vision, new eyes to see; we realize that it contains a great promise of fulfillment, and that a vision of the future opens up before us. Faith, received from God as a supernatural gift, becomes a light for our way, guiding our journey through time. This excerpt was taken from the book, Pope Francis Speaks to Our Hearts, Words of Challenge and Hope by the Word Among Us. Greek Pastry Sale St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 73 Bradford St., Pittsfield, will hold their annual pastry sale on Saturday, April 8 from 9 to 2 p.m. Questions: 442-8113. NEW GENESIS BAKES SALE A SUCCESS! Our New Genesis Committee would like to say THANK YOU, THANK, THANK YOU TO ALL who participated in our recent Bake Sale and St. Ann and St. Patrick by baking, volunteering, purchasing baked good and making donations. We were especially pleased to see this level of support for our mission to bring dignity, respect and wholeness to individuals of different abilities and their families within our parish community. We are also very grateful to our member group residences that donated an incredible variety and quantity of baked goods for sale and assisted as volunteers. Several attended Masses, some for the first time. The few leftovers were donated to Soldiers On in their spirit of giving to others. Your continued support enhances the ability of individuals of different abilities to become real members of the community in which they live and work. Again, thank you for making this event a huge success!! From the Bishop s Office: Because St. Patrick's Day falls on a Friday this year, Bishop Rozanski has decided to issue a dispensation from the Lenten practice of abstaining from eating meat for that Friday only to those Catholics wishing to mark this day honoring the patron saint of Ireland. Those wishing to avail themselves of this dispensation should seriously consider a substitute Lenten practice of sacrifice or charity. Find those walking shoes and join us in the annual "Walk With Me" program offered through Berkshire Health Systems. Participation is free and each person is given a walk counter to add up their increasing steps each day. At the end of the program all are given a free tee-shirt. This program begins at the end of March. Sign up sheet and details can be found in church and in the Parish Center.
