Life Baptist Church
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about Life! This booklet is designed to give a brief but substantial understanding of the church. While it s impossible to answer every question in a booklet, you can read about our beliefs, values, vision, passion, community, family, and global impact. If we ve not met personally, I d like to invite you to be my guest for a weekend service. After the service, drop by the guest reception table. I have a gift that I would like to give you on behalf of our church. If we can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call. May God bless you as you prayerfully discover the church that is right for you. Grace and Peace, Paul Gotthardt Lead Pastor That all may know Christ and make Him known. This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3
Beliefs. In essential beliefs we have unity. In non-essential beliefs we have liberty. In all our beliefs we show charity. What are the essential beliefs of Life? We believe the Bible is inspired by God, inerrant in its original manuscripts, and infallible in its doctrinal precepts. We believe that God has revealed Himself in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the incarnation of Jesus Christ through the virgin birth. We believe in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross for humanity s sin. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We believe in the visible and imminent return of Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is a gift from God based upon His grace and extended to those who repent of sin by placing faith in Jesus Christ. Vision. We want to dedicate our time, leverage our strengths, and mobilize our people so that all may know Christ and make Him known. For that dream to become reality, we must rely on God s grace. By God s grace We will tirelessly teach that Christianity is about relationship. We will keep discipleship at the forefront of ministries and motives. We will encourage people to connect in biblical community. We will develop a counseling ministry that disciples people in the Christ-life. We will engage our world through tangible expressions of love, church planting, and kingdom-minded partnerships. We will develop resources to reach current and future generations for Christ. We will use Life Community Center as a resource to love this city and further the vision of Life.
Passion. Our passions drive us to do something. At Life, we are passionate about making disciples. Discipleship is more than giving biblical information; it s about helping people connect with God and walking them through steps of transformation. At Life, we lead people through a biblical model of pursuing Christ by loving God, uniting with believers, serving the world, and entrusting the Gospel.
Community. Part of our growth in Christ only happens in community. Biblical community is more than going to church, attending a Bible study, or enjoying a meal with other Christians. It s about uniting our lives around common goals, pursuing common purposes, and living together as citizens of Christ s kingdom. By protecting the unity of the body, encouraging participation in small groups, and learning to love each other in Christ, we can enjoy a strong level of biblical community.
Family. People want unconditional acceptance and belonging. Those desires are heightened in a city where many people moved away from family to live in Las Vegas. Whether someone moved to Vegas or is a native of this city, they will find a strong family at Life. We have a large number of young families with kids, a thriving student ministry, a growing college and singles group, and an expanding senior adult ministry. Regardless of your station in life, there is room in this family for you.
Global. The kingdom of God is God s sovereign activity in the world resulting in people being in right relationship with Himself. It s bigger than any denomination, generation, or movement. The kingdom is global. At Life, we look for opportunities to join God where He s working both locally and internationally. Through local areas of service, we can help change our community. Through short-term mission trips, strategic partnerships, and church planting, God is allowing us to touch the nations with the Gospel.
Connect. How can you discover more information, find places to connect, or see if Life is the right place for you and your family? There are three primary ways that we would like to recommend. 1. Spend time on our website (www.lifebaptistchurch.com). The website will have more information about the church, offer options for contacting the staff, let you know of upcoming events, and give you a chance to watch messages online. 2. Fill out a Connection Card during a weekend worship service. These connection cards are located in every seatback in the worship center. Fill out your card, drop it in the offering plate at the end of the service and we will follow up with you promptly. 3. Attend Dinner with the Pastors. Approximately every two months, the pastors host a meal at the church and invite anyone new to attend. After the meal, Pastor Paul shares 40 or so minutes about the church (i.e. brief overview, history, affiliations, vision, mission, etc.), and then he gives people the opportunity to ask questions. This event allows people to gain a lot of information in a short period of time. We recognize that Life will not be the church for everyone. That s okay. If Life is not a good fit for you, we will be happy to help you find a great church home. May God bless you as you pursue Him.
