Hine; music: Swedish folk melody Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the works thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to thee How great thou art, how great thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to thee How great thou art, how great thou art And when I think that God, his son not sparing Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin When burdens press, and seem beyond endurance, Bowed down with grief, to him I lift my face; And then in love he brings me sweet assurance: My child! Be made clean! Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 Then Jesus said to him, See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. 5 When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, appealing to him 6 and saying, Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible distress. 7 And he said to him, I will come and cure him. 8 The centurion answered, Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, Go, and he goes, and to another, Come, and he comes, and to my slave, Do this, and the slave does it. 10 When Jesus heard him, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and will eat with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 while the heirs of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And to the centurion Jesus said, Go; let it be done for you according to your faith. And the servant was healed in that hour. <<SENT>> Response Song Prayers of the People & the Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. How Great is Our God Ed Cash, Jesse Reeves & Chris Tomlin The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty, Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice. He wraps himself in light, and darkness tries to hide, It trembles at his voice, trembles at his voice. How great is our God, sing with me, How great is our God, and all will see How great, how great is our God. And age to age he stands, and time is in his hands, Beginning and the end, beginning and the end. The God-head three in one, Father, Spirit, Son, The Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb. Name above all names, worthy of all praise, My heart will sing, How great is our God. CURRENT SERMON SERIES MANY VOICES: A Borderless Gospel Borders and boundaries provide a sense of place, distinctiveness, definition, and sometimes a healthy sense of security. But they can also define spaces of complacency and comfort or become barriers that divide, separate, and create obstacles to the full life into which Jesus invites us. This summer, special guests from diverse places around the country and the world will serve as our preachers. We ve given them a great question to frame their messages: From where you are in the Kingdom, what do you sense the Spirit saying to the Church for this time? It is a challenging question that will engage a gospel that transcends boundaries and invites us to follow Jesus into the great adventure of Kingdom life. GUEST PREACHER Mark Labberton, president of Fuller Seminary, brings to his leadership a deep awareness of the urgency of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a passion for the vital role that Fuller Seminary plays in the enactment of that Gospel. Mark infuses concepts such as freedom and joy into his presidency, while using his history of pastoral ministry to help prepare Christian leaders holistically for their callings, nurturing each student s personal, spiritual, academic, and global formation. Prior to joining Fuller Seminary s faculty in 2009, he served for 16 years as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, Calif. CHANCEL FLOWERS The flowers on the Chancel today are donated by Patty Minzel, in loving memory of her husband, George.
