JESUS TELLS THE PARABLE OF THE WEDDING FEAST MATTHEW 22 1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said (Still trying to help them even though they were after Him.), (The Bible tells us 15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused (I have a business; I have important things to do.). 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind (These are the people they wern not will to invite but are usually follow God.). 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden (Invited.) shall taste of my supper. Luke 14:15-24) 2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, 3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come (Israel). 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden (Invited), Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: (Be careful of what we make light of.) 6 And the remnant took his servants (prophets), and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. 7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. (The Bible tells us 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (7 years.): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,
and for the overspreading of abominations (Satan will come as a peacemaker; distribution of Idols.) he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Daniel 9:27) 8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden (invited) were not worthy. (Read Matthew 10:37-39) 9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found (Found you and I.), both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. (There were conditions; see next verse.) 11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: (A garment of righteousness-to be holy-no unclean meats etc.) (Given to those who obey Him; we must put on His nature.) 12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. (They didn t want my Law or listen to me or obey me.) (The Bible tells us 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law (When we do bad things we are under the law of God.): that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. (Why because we all have sinned-so repent and come back and obey God.) Romans 3:19) 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (The Bible tells us 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 8:12) 14 For many are called (Invited), but few are chosen (The Elect of God.) (The Bible tells us 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:22) (The Bible tells us 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Peter 1:10) RELIGIOUS LEADERS QUESTION JESUS ABOUT PAYING TAXES 15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk (Those not obedient to the Law of God will not have on the garment of righteousness.). (Example of the nature of man-satan s nature.) 16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master (Teacher), we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth (The
way is God s religion.), neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men (Sounded like devout men, but it was lip service only.). 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute (pay taxes) unto Caesar, or not (Why ask a question like that?)? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? (Looks good on the outside but inside planted and ugly-no meaning; in vain do they worship.) 19 Shew me the tribute money (tax money). And they brought unto him a penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? (Churches do not invent doctrine; God does.) 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. (The Bible tells us 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Romans 13:7) (You got it from Cesar or your gov t; give it back to him; what I give you give back to me.) 22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. (What else could they do they were outsmarted in front of everyone.) (The Bible tells us 12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. 13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong Job 5:12-13) RELIGIOUS LEADERS ASK JESUS ABOUT THE RESURRECTION 23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, (Had lost their ability to understand the truth of God; and still taught in the Temple.) (The Bible tells us 18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying, 19 Master (Teacher), Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. 21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. 22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife (They didn t believe in the first place-all hypocrisy.) Mark 12:18-23) (The Bible tell us 25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted (tested) him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (Oh how love I
thy law David said-why because it teaches how to do everything-love and think.) 26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself (He was a lawyer so knew the answer). 28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live (You will have eternal life; obedience to the Law of God and if you don t you won t have life.). 29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? 30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho (A Jew.), and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead (The land was full of evil.). 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest (A religious guy.) that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side (Why was too busy with his own thing; didn t want to be defiled-thought themselves too holy.). 32 And likewise a Levite (A religious guy.), when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side (Same here.). 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him (What was lacking in others.), 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise (Obey the Law of God and a time to show mercy.). 38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. Luke 10:25-40) (The Bible tells us 12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? I Corinthians 15:12) 24 Saying, Master (Teacher), Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother (It was God who gave Moses the law.). (The Bible tells us 8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. Genesis 38:8)
25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: (Trying to trick Jesus.) 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. 27 And last of all the woman died also. 28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures (The Old Testament.), nor the power of God. (The Bible tells us 9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. John 20:9) 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry (The first resurrection.), nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. (Angels do not marry.) 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. (The Bible tells us 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. Exodus 3:6) (The Bible tells us 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Exodus 3:15) 33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine (Shows the blindness God had placed on Israel at this point and continues to this day.). (The Bible tells us 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:28-29) RELIGIOUS LEADERS QUESTION JESUS ABOUT THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT 34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. (The Bible tells us 28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (29-31-These two
commandments covered the totality of God) 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:28-31) 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer (A teacher of the law of God.), asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master (Teacher), which is the great commandment in the law (Torah)? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (The Bible tells us 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 6:5) (The Bible tells us 12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? Deuteronomy 10:12-13) (The Bible tells us 6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. Deuteronomy 30:6) 38 This is the first and great commandment.(the people around you are friendsall are sons of God live in peace.) (The Bible tells us 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:18) (The Bible tells us 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12) (The Bible tells us 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Romans 13:9) 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets (The Bible tells us the entirety of the Law was given at Sinia.). RELIGIOUS LEADERS CANNOT JESUS QUESTION 41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David. (The knowledge was there-part of the answer.)
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. (No matter what they were told they would not change their mind; were exposed and never won with Christ.) MEMORY VERSE MASTER (teacher), WHICH IS THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT IN THE LAW?
