Our ushers have hearing devices, large print editions of the bulletin, activity bags for children staying in worship, and directions to our nursery for babies and young children. Preparation for Worship Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. Corrie Ten Boom The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in him. Lamentations 3: 22-24 Welcome Prelude Choral Introit "Thy Holy Wings" Fern Jennings, guest organist arr. J. Ferguson Greeting Our God with Joy Call to Worship Leader: Friends, we gather this day to celebrate life People: The life we have been given by God, Leader: The life we share with one another in community, People: The life that Jesus gives in abundance. Leader: Let us be grateful for the joy of life, All: And let us worship God! 2 Peter Williams * Opening Hymn No. 39 Great is Thy Faithfulness * Please stand if you are able

Renewing Our Relationship with God Prayer of Confession Holy God, we don t live as we ought to live. We frequently fail to love you wholeheartedly. We don t love our neighbors as ourselves, and quite honestly, we don t always know how to love ourselves. Change our hearts and minds, we humbly pray. Show us how to love the way you love generously, compassionately, and freely. Grant us the wisdom to understand your will for us and the strength to carry it out. We thank you for your mercy and the chance to start over once more. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Time of Silent Confession Kyrie eleison (Lord, have mercy) Guarani melody Affirming the Good News in Our Lives Assurance of Pardon * Response Paul Vasile Glory to God 3

Matthew 10: 24-39 A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master; it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household! So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven. Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one s foes will be members of one s own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. 5

After the reading Leader: Hear what the Holy Spirit is telling God s people. People: Thanks be to God. * Hymn No. 450 Be Thou My Vision Prayer requests may be passed to the ushers during this hymn Sermon Finding Our Lives Rev. Lois Annich Prayers of the People Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Ritual of Friendship Offering Offertory As the Deer Longs (Psalms 42 and 43) Bob Hurd 6

* Response South African song * Prayer of Dedication Going Forth to Live as God s People * Closing Hymn No. 305 Come Sing, O Church, in Joy! * Commission and Blessing * Choral Benediction * Passing of the Peace 7
