TBTST ECC Newsletter Director s Message It s February! We just celebrated Tu B Shevat, the Jewish holiday known as "New Year for the Trees" or "Birthday of the Trees," a day that celebrates trees and taking care of our environment. We celebrated the holiday by throwing a birthday party for the trees. We also took our learning outside by taking a nature walk, planting seeds and making bird feeders. Our 100th day of school is approaching on, Feb 10th. The 100th day is a milestone for children of all different ages in school. Our PreK class is planning to celebrate the day with lots of counting and sorting of 100 items. It s a really fun day for PreK. We are also gearing up for Purim! Purim this year will be on March 23rd. Even though it s over Spring Break, we encourage you to come celebrate if you re in town. Come dressed in costume and bring your groggers. I hear that we may have some special guest appearances! Volume 4, Issue 4 February-March 2016 We have lots of great events coming up in February. Our 2nd annual Fashion Show fundraiser will be on Sunday, February 21st. We hope to see you and your friends and family at this great event! There will be boutique shopping, a catered brunch, raffle prizes, silent auctions and of course your little one starring in their very own fashion show! Our Tot Shabbat this month will be on Friday, February 19th at 6pm. Picture Day will be on Feb 23rd and 24th. Even if you do not plan on purchasing your child s picture it s very important each child takes one, because we use the pictures for our yearbook. Last but certainly not least, February is the month we honor all our wonderful TBTST Dads, Uncles, Grandfathers or any special man in your child s life. February 25th at 9:15am is our annual Donuts with Dad breakfast. Lots of great events! Hope to see you at some or all of them! Session 3 enrichments begin the week of Feb 1st & 8th. We still have openings in a few classes. Call the front desk to enroll! Recipe: Hamentashen 4 eggs 1 cup oil 1 1/4 cup sugar 2 tsp vanilla 3 tsp baking powder 5 1/2 6 cups flour 1-2 smalls jars of filling (apricot, prune, cherry, chocolate, poppy seed) Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Mix together eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour. Knead until smooth. Roll out very thin, (1/8 inch), on a floured board. Cut out circles with a drinking glass. Put a dollop of filling in the center of each circle. Fold in three sides over the filling to make a triangle with filling showing in the center. Baked for 15 mins on a greased cookie sheet. Spend Spring Break with your TBTST friends. Each day is filled with fun and activities. Arts and crafts, games, storytelling, playground and music are just part of the excitement. March 21 st 25 th Mini-camp will be open from 7am-6pm. The cost is $50 per day from 9am-3pm and $5 per hour for each additional hour of early bird or extended day needed. (Infant room, please add $10 to total cost.) Please send in a dairy or pareve lunch for your child. Registration due by MARCH 4th
