Pre-service Music Welcome and Announcements Opening Hymn, 905: Come, Thou Almighty King Invocation Pastor: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Response: Amen. Confession and Absolution (based on Psalm 34) Pastor: Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! Response: The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Pastor: Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Response: When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. Pastor: God is faithful. His promise is that when we confess our sin, he will forgive us our sin. When we cry for help, He promises to hear and deliver. So, let us confess our sin to God, our Father. Response: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our merciful Father, we admit and confess our sinfulness. We have turned away from each other in our thinking, speaking and doing. We have done the evil you forbid and have not done the good you demand. We do repent and are truly sorry for these our sins. Have mercy on us, your children, kind Father, because of the obedience of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Forgive us all that is past, and with the power of the Holy Spirit move us to serve you faithfully. Pastor: The Psalmist declares The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Response: Amen. Page - 2 -
