At age 85, he asked to be given the privilege of taking on one final challenge. Though advanced in years, Caleb exhibited a fresh faith. He refused to simply settle down but parlayed his assets of wisdom, experience, and strength into even greater service for God. NEXT WEEK AT ELMHURST CRC Next Sunday we begin a new sermon series as we turn our attention to the back-to-school calendar. In keeping with the season, we'll be reminded to "Act Like a Kid." Jesus taught his disciples that receiving the kingdom of God meant receiving it as a child would. When we give our kids presents, they are generally not slowed down by suspicions, cynicism, or the rational part of their

minds. Instead, they simply receive and enjoy. Jesus is looking for this kind of receptivity, especially since it turns out the amount of grace we can give can never exceed the amount of grace that we have first received. You are invited to read Luke 18:15-17 in preparation for this worship service. OUR CHURCH FAMILY The family of Bernie Huizenga would like to thank the congregation for their cards, visits, expressions of care and concern, sympathy, and prayers during our dad's recent illness and passing. We are grateful for our church family! Join us in praying for each other. To send your prayer requests or praises to be included in the email prayer chain, or to receive a daily email of these requests, email prayer@elmhurstcrc.org or call the church office at 630-600-5100. If you would like your prayer request included in the weekly announcements in the worship folder please email Lisa Capozzoli, Director of Care and Community, lisa.capozzoli@elmhurstcrc.org.
