Tom Bedichek After receiving invitations, we are in the beginning stages of setting up a time to visit in the next few months with the Guymon church of Christ in Oklahoma and the Hartwell church of Christ in Georgia. We will be heading to a church in North Dakota this Spring. We have heard from numerous churches in need of help. Truly, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are too few. Tom Box Burkburnett church of Christ is seeing an increase in attendance. Four new members have placed membership with the church recently and we have a number of members who are coming back to see how we are progressing and seem to be impressed with the love and compassion they are experiencing. HomeMission Q and A What resources are available to churches? One is a 3-5 day workshop called Circle of Influence. This is a six-lesson series that is a precursor to evangelism. This can run from a Sunday-Wednesday or Friday-Sunday. During this time, attendees learn to reach out to their inner and outer circle of contacts, family, and friends. They learn and practice how to invite others to church services and how to set up a Bible Study. This is followed up with a series of weekly articles, 50 Ways to Save Your Neighbor. Other resources are found at homemission.org. The list below contains the names of manuscripts that can be used in studies or in classes, or presented formally by HomeMisson evangelists, during arranged church visits and workshops. The list concludes with a single visitation form and the complete HomeMission Information packet, which is updated periodically. All documents are in pdf format, needing the free Adobe Reader to open. Hanger TakeOff Circle of Influence Foundations 50 Ways to Love the Father 50 Ways to Save Your Neighbor One Mind, One Voice Fifty Sermon Seeds Digging Tools Visitation Form HomeMission Information Packet In addition to these important resources for helping with personal Bible studies, HomeMission has helped congregations with building repair and upgrade. Many of the churches we visit have older, even historic buildings, so there is a need for help.
One area of help that we ve discovered as a need in HomeMission, is assisting congregations in finding evangelists/preachers to work with them. So far 6 congregations have found a minister with our help. Another need that HomeMission has supplied is teaching and outreach materials. Besides the workbooks we ve furnished for our various workshops, we ve also supplied Bibles (one church had Bibles falling apart), many tracts, concordances, Study aids, pitch pipes, donated Bible class materials, toys for a nursery, supplies to set up a cradle roll class, and other items. HM does not charge churches for materials or expenses. It s been an eye opening experience to see the basic needs of churches that large congregations take for granted. God bless all those who have helped HomeMission fill the needs of our churches in America. Through Team Sew at Faith Village church of Christ, it is possible to provide hand-sewn and hand-made items to our HM churches. These ladies have donated several boxes of items such as blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, kitchen towel sets, children s clothes and pot holders that they have made at their meetings and at home. Churches have used these for outreach and visitation. Thanks, ladies for using your talents to serve God. Susie Orr s experience as a former public school and Bible class teacher enables her to help a church prepare lessons for teaching women and children (even a Cradle Roll class using items from Dollar Tree and other on-hand supplies). She is also willing to train teachers in the use of their new material. Help is also available to organize and stock a workroom and decorate and arrange classrooms. More information to come!
WOULD YOUR CONGREGATION BE A SPONSOR FOR: REVIVE US AGAIN HOMEMISSION EVANGELISM AND CHURCH GROWTH WORKSHOP? What is a sponsoring congregation? A church of Christ congregation that supports this Workshop, so we can offer teaching, equipping and materials to help the church in America to be successful in outreach and growth. What do sponsoring congregations receive? 1. Display table space in the main foyer of Faith Village during the Workshop. A congregation should bring its own informational pamphlets, brochures... 2. A 30-in X 8-ft banner (see picture below) as part of their $2000 sponsorship fee. This banner is well-made and very eye-catching to attendees. You may design your banner as you wish for future display at other events, workshops with information about your congregation (example Mission Statement, Congregation-supported works ) This would be beneficial for outreach and general advertising in local communities. We will forward ordering and vendor information to those interested congregations.
3. Supporting congregation s name will appear on RUA Workshop brochure and on auditorium PowerPoint presentation. 4. All supporting congregation s Workshop attendees will receive free tickets to Friday night s BBQ dinner (pre-registration required.) 5. An opportunity to personally advertise a congregation, useful to future or present residents and visitors. Cost for a sponsorship is $2000. The fee will be used for the Workshop s expenses and the work of HomeMission. For information, contact John Orr at 940-631-5530
