KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 40 Crest St. Westwood, NJ 07675 Return Service Requested The Chancellor Knights of Columbus Saint Thomas More Council 2188 Non-Profit Org. U.S. POSTAGE PAID Permit N. 648 Paramus, NJ Grand Knight Joseph Bisi Dep. Grand Knight Frank Mariconti Chancellor Ken Fodor Warden Mike Malure October 2017 Volume 10 Chaplain Fr. Paciano. A. Barbieto Editor Jim Abrams Circulation Dave Stewart Chaplain s Message Fr. Alex s Message will be in the November issue. Grand Knight s Message Brothers: Our Council begins the month of October with the task of having to fill two crucial positions: Deputy Grand Knight and Hall Rental Chairman. In accordance with our Bylaws, the selection of a Deputy Grand Knight will take place at the November General Membership Meeting. Suggestions and nominations for DGK will be accepted up to the November meeting. A very critical position for our Council is the Hall Rental Chairman. Hall rentals provide the monies needed by the Columbian Club to operate and maintain our Council Hall. Without rentals we will have to consider the possibility of putting out the FOR SALE sign. Non-favorable options are currently being considered in the event that the position cannot be filled. We certainly need to fill this position as bookings desired after January 1, 2018 will not be considered at this time. Any member or members (to share the job) wishing to fill this position or having an alternate suggestion should contact me or the Columbian Club Presi

(GK) dent ASAP. Duty responsibilities and an adequate training period will be provided. In addition to the Community Walk for Life on October 7 th, our Council members annually help with two October events: the Spectrum Walk and the Alzheimer s Walk. The Spectrum Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 14 th at Overpeck County Park. Members wishing to help should report to the park at 8:30AM. The Alzheimer s Walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 29 th at Bergen Community College. Members wishing to help should report at 7:00AM. Don t pass up the opportunity to enjoy these two fun-filled fraternal events! Our annual Memorial Mass to remember our deceased members will be held, as usual, in November. Please plan on attending the Mass when the date and time are given in my weekly e-mail. Let s have a great showing to honor our deceased members. Joe Bisi, GK. Spectrum The Spectrum Canteen will be held on Oct. 2 at 6:15 PM. The usual help is gratefully appreciated. The Spectrum Walk will be held at Overpeck County Park at 8:30 AM Joseph F. Lamb Assembly 0665 Our first meeting for the Columbian Club was held at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Washington Township on September 26 th. The Faith Navigator introduced our new Faithful Friar Ray. Father Ray is assigned to OLGC and has accepted the Friar position. We are very happy to have a permanent Friar again. Discussions covered many important topics. We discussed the change in uniforms for the Color Corps. It will become effective at the beginning of the next fraternal year. We also talked about the upcoming Exemplification happening on Nov. 19 th, 2017. Anyone interested in becoming a Fourth Degree Knight should submit the proper forms and checks to begin this process. The Degree and Dinner will take place at Le Neves. Time is of the essence. Our next meeting will be on October 24 th, 2017 at Presentation Council in Upper Saddle River. Please attend these meetings for all up-dates and information. Directions can be found in the Patriot newsletter. I hope that all new members have begun to receive their copies. The First NJ District is having a Mass and Breakfast on October 15 th, starting with Mass at St. Leo s Church at 9:00 AM with the breakfast following at Le Neves. Cost: $20.00 p/p. Finally, I would like to submit a prayer by St. John Paul II. To you, Creator of humanity and nature, of truth and beauty, I pray: hear my voice, for it is the voice of the victims of all wars and violence among individuals and nations. Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all children who suffer. Hear my voice when I beg you to instill into the hearts of all human beings the vision of peace, the strength of justice and the joy of fellowship. Amen. Fraternally, Al Lukievics, PGN, PFN P. 2
