Mitten tree: We once again have an outlet for idle fingers this winter! Mental Health Estrie prepares festive HUGS packages (Hats, Underwear, Gloves, Socks) at this time of year for residents at the homeless shelter Accueil Poirier and the residence for the 18-30 age group, Source Soleil. The gift bags contain knitted hats, underwear, gloves, scarves and socks in adult sizes (especially for men, since 80% of the homeless are men), either hand-made or bought. Our mitten tree is ready to receive any fruit you can provide. Happy Birthday to Vera Armstrong, who celebrates tomorrow; and to Denis Ashby, who celebrates on January 8. God speed to Alison, Mark and Roger Halkyard who are returning to New Zealand this week after a year s sabbatical in Sherbrooke. We were blessed by your time with us! I was so excited, I took a minute of worship time to tell them how impressed my wife and I are about the outreach of your congregation. This Week Tuesday, January 8: The UCW will meet at 7:30 p.m. Our annual reports are due in triplicate at this time. Wednesday, January 9: Weekly prayer group resumes at 1:30 PM. Next Week Next Sunday: January 13 Baptism of the Lord we ll all have the opportunity to see and hear United Church Moderator Gary Paterson when he will be preaching and lunching here at Plymouth-Trinity. An estimate of the number of people attending would be appreciated, so please let us know by the afternoon of Wednesday, January 9. You can call the church office at 819-346- 6373 and leave a message. Next Sunday is also the deadline for Annual Reports. Advance Notices Sunday, January 20: Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - The annual, ecumenical celebration for the Sherbrooke area will be held this year on Sunday, January 20, at Église de Marie- Médiatrice, 3025 Galt West at 2:00 PM. A social time with refreshments will follow the service; all are welcome. Weekly Bible study led by Carol Gosselin will resume in the first week of February 2013. - 5 -
