VOLUME 42, ISSUE 19 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS May 8, 2016 "More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." ~Alfred Tennyson 15 HOURS OF PRAYER Friday, May 13 6:00 am - 9:00 pm Chapel Another opportunity to come and pray in the peace and quiet of the Chapel. The United Methodist Church General Conference is May 10-20 in Portland, Oregon. The May 13 date is near the beginning of the conference, and gives us the opportunity to pray for the decisions that will be made there. It is an important time in the life of the United Methodist Church as many challenges face the denomination. There will be prayer requests specifically for the General Conference and also for this church, the community of Midland, the state of Michigan, the United States, and the world. Signup sheets are on Pastor Yum s office window and include opportunities to sign up for 30 or 45 minute time slots in the Chapel, in your home, or wherever you are. If you are praying from home or someplace else, please call Teri in the church office, 835.6797 ext. 120, and give her the time when you will be praying. Your name will be added to the list. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact Peg Born, peg@bornhome.com. TALK TO A STEPHEN MINISTER If you or someone you know is going through a troubling time, talking with a Stephen Minister might help. Stephen Ministry is a confidential, one-on-one ministry with a trained member of the congregation who listens and is there with you as you work your way through life's ups and downs. There are both men and women ministers available. If you feel you or someone you know could benefit from talking with a Stephen Minister, please call Jo Winchester, 631.0122, Terry Townley, 835.7564, Diane Merrick, 631.8854, or Rev.
