Mission Trips 2014 F i r s t B a p t i s t C h u r c h G e o r g e t o w n, T X The goal of every mission trip FBCgT sponsors or promotes is not only ministering alongside a local missionary or a local church for follow-up after we come back home, but to also see spiritual growth in the life of the one who goes on mission. With our full-fledged partnerships, our involvement is threefold: prayer support, financial support, and taking mission teams. We also stay involved for a longenough period of time to see what God is doing and to make a difference for the Kingdom. Charlotte Watson, Minister of Missions First Baptist Church 1333 W. University Ave. Georgetown TX 78628 512.869.2586 cwatson@fbcgt.org

Mexico - Construction Location: Reynosa, Mexico Target Participants: Adult men, 18 and over Scope: This mission trip is being conducted in association with HERO (Helping Everyone Remember Orphans) Makers, Inc. HERO Makers is a Christ centered ministry dedicated to helping children at risk in Mexico for over 25 years. Men of all skill levels are needed to help these children at risk through group home construction projects, repairs and maintenance, preparing meals at children s homes, as well as, distributing gifts. It is a very easy mission trip to attend. It s just across the border from McAllen, Texas in Mexico. Bring a brother and become a HERO in the life of a child who desperately needs to know God s love through your actions. For more detailed information about HERO Makers, its purpose, mission trip descriptions or mission trip blogs and pictures go to www.heromakers.org. The mission trip fee covers room and board. All construction materials and tools are supplied by Hero Makers. Cost: $600, plus shared transportation costs of under $100. Date of Interest Meeting: Sunday, October 27, 2013, 3 5 pm, E2.102 Dates of Trip: January 22 29, 2014 Team Leader (at FBCgT): Bill O Connell, 214-679- 6552, woconnell@live.com or Allen Palmer, 281-222-2149, brentara@aol.com Alaska 2014 Location: Nome, Alaska Target Participants: Families (includes children, 12 and older) and Adults of all ages; Team Size 10 40 Scope: Join us as we serve the indigenous people and visitors to Nome in The Last Great Race, the infamous Iditarod Sled Dog Race. We will be serving with Alaska Missions and Retreats as they minister and serve through distribution of coffee and hot chocolate to the crowds, working concession stands at an Eskimo Basketball tournament, assisting the Iditarod Race officials, working with the mushers and their dog teams, and many other service and witnessing opportunities. This is not a trip for the faint of heart as it will be very, very cold.

Cost: Approximately $1,900 Date of Interest Meeting: None at this time. Team is full Dates of Trip: March 7-14, 2014 Team Leader: Joe Ward, 512-869-2586, jward@fbcgt. org Ukraine Location: Ukraine Evangelical Theological Seminary in Kiev, Ukraine Target Participants: Both men and women are welcome to be part of the team Scope: Construction. Our primary construction project will be to complete two floors of the new addition to the Hospitality Building. This building houses guests as well as some faculty families. Our team initiated the construction of the four-story addition three years ago and has been working on the project each year since then. We will complete the project this year. Cost: $1,500 Date of Interest Meeting: Sunday, December 15, 2013, 4 pm, E2.107 Dates of Trip: April 5 19, 2014 Team Leader: Larry Maddox, 512-868-3542, lgmaddox2001@yahoo.com Belize Location: Belize Target Participants: Anyone over the age of 10. Medical professionals, people with a desire to do construction, or people with a heart to serve kids. This is also a great family trip for families with kids 10 and older. Scope: We will be working with International Servants as a part of a larger team (approx. 70 people) serving a village in Belize. This is a really great entry level international mission trip. The travel is lighter than most international trips, our accommodations are wonderful and even the official language of the country is English (although not spoken in the village).there are several teams within this trip. There will be a full scale medical clinic where doctors, nurses, NP s, dentists etc can use their skills to serve the Belizeans. This medical clinic is the only medical care most of these

people have in a given year. A typical medical team will serve about 1,000 people over the course of the trip. There are also places for non-medical professionals to help serve within the clinic and the pharmacy. The second team is a construction team that spends the trip focused on building for either the local church or the community. In the past, groups have built parts of the church or large pavilions for the local school. The construction teams have always come home exhausted and excited about how the Lord used them over the course of the week. A third team is the children s team. The village where we will be serving has a school of over 800 kids and as a part of the children s team you get to serve them, play with them, and be a part of sharing the gospel with these kids. If you love having kids hanging off you literally all day long, then this may be the trip for you. There is also a Feed-A-Child program that a few people each year get to be a part of helping and serving meals for kids who do not have food at home. Check out their website for videos and details on the ministry (www.iservants.com). Come join us in being a part of what God is doing in Belize! Cost: $1,600-$1,800 Date of Interest Meeting: January 12, 2014, 6 pm, E2.106 Dates of Trip: May 4 May 10, 2014 Team Leader: Curt Sparkman, 512-869-2586, csparkman@fbcgt.org New York City Location: New York City, NY Target Participants: Adults, Youth, 17 and over Scope: This is FBCgT s fourteenth year to partner with Missionary Taylor Field and Graffiti Ministries as they reach across their city to share Christ and show Christ in tangible ways. The team will serve alongside Graffiti 1 (Lower East Side), Graffiti 3 (Brownsville), and Graffiti 4 (Long Island). Details of exact ministries and the trip schedule are still being finalized. Cost: Approximately $1,100 Date of Interest Meeting: Sunday, February 16, 2014 E2.102 Dates of Trip: May 23 June 1, 2014 Team Leader: Charlotte Watson, 512-869-2586, cwatson@fbcgt.org

We will also assist in three outdoor Gospel Crusades and provide a Harvest Celebration (dinner) where we feed hundreds a hot meal. English is the official language in Uganda. If you have felt called to minister to the people of Africa, come join us on this life changing mission trip. There will also be an opportunity to experience the beauty of God s creation during a safari through Murchison Falls National Park. Cost: $3,000 Date of Interest Meeting: January 2014 Dates of Trip: June 30 July 15, 2014 Team Leader: John Brattlof, 512-751-2343, john@pearlhaven.org Houston Location: Houston, Texas Target Participants: Women, 18 and over

Scope: This mission trip partners alongside Houston s First Baptist Church in a city wide outreach to teach children about Jesus through Vacation Bible School. First Baptist Georgetown s women focus on teaching the parents of the children attending Long Point Baptist Church s VBS. Long Point is one of the mission churches that Houston First Baptist serves with during this week-long event. We have the opportunity to serve in various capacities during this week. These activities include; passing out flyers advertising the VBS, prayer walking, serving water and visiting with people in the benevolence line, helping in the clothes closet and food pantry, encouraging the staff, preparing gift baskets for the adult VBS attendees, taking keepsake pictures of families and speaking God s healing Word to attendees at night. This will be our eighth year to serve the people in the Houston area. We look forward each year to reconnect with the people God has brought into our lives. Ask God if He wants you to join us this summer. Cost: Approximately $200 Date of Interest Meeting: TBD Dates of Trip: July Team Leader (at FBCgT): Kerry Alton, 512-517- 1872, kerryalton@yahoo.com Salmon Frenzy Location: Kenai Peninsula, Alaska Target Participants: Adults, Families with Children 11 and older, Youth 16 and older (limited to 8) Scope: Alaska Dipnetting is a yearly cultural activity. Mission teams host beach kids club; give away water bottles and/or hotdogs; do beach cleanup as they prayer walk; supervise bouncy toys; host a beach chapel; and do traffic control. This is a BEACH REACH where Alaskans gather and are accessible. Come along and help us breakdown their stereotypes of Christians!!
