Raksha Bandhan Raksha Bandhan is the name used today for an annual custom affirming the kinship, affection and mutual interest between brothers and sisters. The expression Raksha Bandhan literally means The bond of protection, obligation or care. BGSIRS celebrated Raksha Bandhan with a difference. in its true spirits of universal brotherhood. Our students who participated in the programme were dressed up in traditional costumes. The programme started with great enthusiasm by a speech by Mr. Prasanna Bhat who spoke about the importance of the festival. The significance of the day was given by Ardhra of class XI (commerce). This was followed by a dance which depicted the beautiful relationship between brother and sister.
The brothers and sisters of the school tied Rakhi and exchanged sweets and reinforced their bonding. Principal Mr. J.B. Murthy addressed the gathering and enlightened about the importance of this festival. He spoke about the sacred bond between a brother and sister and how Rakhi symbolizes the sister s love and prayers for the brother s well being and his lifelong vow to protect her. Rakhi is a special occasion to celebrate the emotional bonding by a holy thread, around the wrist which pulsates with sisterly love and sublime sentiments. Rakhi making competition was organized for the students from classes 1-9. All the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm and prepared colorful Rakhis and made the event successful. The competitions were judged by the teachers, the Rakhi s which won the prizes were displayed class wise on the school notice board.
Independence Day Independence Day ignites the spirit of patriotism in every Indian, paying homage to the martyrs who secured the invaluable freedom for us. It was celebrated with festivity in BGSIRS this year, with parents as special invitees, a large number of students, teaching and non-teaching faculty, with Principal Sir were present to hoist the tricolor in front of our iconic school building, the event was whole level of new dimension for the entire audience gathered making the colorful function truly memorable, and will be cherished for many more years to come. Principal J. B. Murthy took the Guard of Honour and General Salute and unfurled our national flag. Saluting the tricolor, everyone sang the national anthem with patriotic fervour, paying tributes to the unsung heroes.
A colourful March-Past by the four houses; Chalukyas, Hoysalas, Kakatiyas, Satavahanas was the highlight of the celebration; Captains, Vice Captains with their house flag led their houses in unison followed them in three rows, in perfect synchronization to the, beat of the drums in faultless rhythm which was indeed a sight to behold. The entire stage event was compered by Miss LakshmiHallur XII com. Miss Subhiksha M XII-com,SportsCaptain(Girls) welcomed the gathering. This was followed by the administration of oath by thevice Principal,Mrs Renuka Ramachandran. Master Abhijith Kurup, School Captain (Boys) gave the significance of the day in English. Our school choir rendered a patriotic song in Hindi;Master Yashas Narayan of II PU gave a speech in kannada about the importance of the event.
Our high school students enthralled the gathering with an enchanting dance performance. Chalukya House Captain Master Rohith Sharma brought in true facets of martyrdom in Hindi,which was followed by another patriotic-dance performance by classxi students. IRS students exhibited their skills in the form of a Pyramid formation which was indeed exciting and thrilling and mesmerized the audience. Our Hon ble Principal Sri. J. B. Murthy in his Independence day message analyzed the need of national festivals and while celebrating them in meaningful manner, inculcating important values in the youth, who are going to shoulder the future responsibility of safeguarding our mother India. Krishna Janmashtami The BGSIRS family celebrated with all passion and enthusiasm on August 15, 2017 during the special day of our 71 Independence Day Celebration. The Janmashtami programme was hosted by Miss. Subhiksha Mohan XII Commerce. The order of the programme commenced with a song followed by a pooja to Lord Krishna by our principal Mr. J.B Murthy. The event comprised of Group Dance on the life of Krishna by Primary, Middle and High school children. The pranks of Lord Krishna depicted, marked the event more fun and frolic. It also brought awareness about Indian tradition, custom and culture with the message conveyed Victory of good over evil.
Students from classes Prep to fifth have participated in the fancy dress competition with the roles of Lord Krishna and Radha. These competitors were judged by different teachers marking on their best smile, on their dress, jewellery and accessories and their style of presentation. The event concluded with the matka breaking competition. A group of boys of different houses tried to break the matka a midst much enthusiasm.
TEACHER S DAY 5 th September is celebrated as Teacher s day in honour of Dr.Radhakrishnan a great teacher and social reformer. The students of BGSIRS organized a very colorful programme in honour of the staff. The chief guest of the day was the J.B Murthy and Vice principal Mrs.Renuka Ramachandran.The program was an of songs,dances,fokes by students of various classes.
