H.E. Sri. Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka launches a book Our Parliament authored by Justice Dr. M. Rama Jois Raksha Bandhan symbolises the unity of all religions in the country. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor extended the meaning of Raksha Bandhan to encompass a sense of brotherhood among Indians, irrespective of caste and religion. Idealism and right conduct are the y cornerstones for strengthening the nation, and consequently, the world, he said. Former Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court Justice Dr. M. Bhavan s Bangalore Kendra and Vinayak Gokak Vangmaya Trust jointly hosted Teachers Day at the BVB-BBMP Public School premises on Sept. 5. A cultural programme on Srikrishna s birth, against Janmashtami having been celebrated just a day earlier, and an interactive session between the teachers and Dr. Anil V. Gokak, former vice-chancellor of Sri Satya Sai University was the day s highlights. Dr. Anil Gokak who was Chief Guest, said man was an acronym for maya, atma, and nirvana, which was applauded by the gathering. Oct. 2: Bhavan s activities this month begin with the popular Nitya Nritya, a pioneering dance, music and academic annual event of Nupura, headed by Dr. Lalitha Srinivasan is now into three decades of traditional art-related activities. This time it begins with the inauguration of a painting exhibition by Sri. H.N.Suresh, Simply titled Ashtadikpalaka, the series of eight paintings depicting the eight directions, is an integration of science and art in intriguing yet easily communicative fashion. The festival & conference to be inaugurated by Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekar Kambar, at 10 am, will lead into the inaugural academic session, Ashtadikpalaka in Art & Literature with a keynote address WATCH OUT FOR OCT 2, 17, 24, 2015. - Jyothi Raghuram Vyjayanthi Kashi by Dr. Shatavadani R. Oct 17 : Dr. Shobha Shashikumar Two interesting events at the Bhavan premises on the same day make for a difficult choice for the audience. Dr. Sanjay Shantharam, a popular actor in tele-serials, never lost touch with his first love dance his Shivapriya School of Dance known for its dazzling productions such as Alladin The Tale of the Magic Lamp and Matsyakanya The Mermaid. Sanjay is both a Bharatanatya and a Kuchipudi dancer, who will be performing at the Khincha Hall under the Dr. Sanjay Shantharam Horizon series of Bhavan and ICCR. At the ESV Hall, Sri.Nagaraj will give an astrology lecture on Fructification of Yogas. Both programmes begin at 6.30 pm. Oct. 24: BVB Infosys Foundation Outreach Programme will feature a veena concert by Vidwan V.Gopal at the MPL Sastry PU College, Rajajinagar. Mysore Education Society (MES) set of institutions, founded by Samskritam scholar and educationist Prof. M.P.L.Sastry, has joined hands with the Bhavan to encourage traditional arts and artistes. MES Kalavedi, in fact, is the only student organization in Karnataka to be entirely devoted to the cause of indigenous arts. It has been organizing a cultural programme on the third Saturday of every month at MES College, Malleswaram. A heartening aspect of its activities is that the Kalavedi has become a platform for current students of the MES institutions and alumni to exhibit their talent. The accompanists of the evening are Vidwan R.Adamya (mridanga) and R.Karthik (kanjira). The recital it at 6 pm. 12
