Say It With Flowers... No other decor livens up a home like fresh flowers, more so if it is artistically arranged in attractive vases. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, is synonymous with delicate and intricate arrangements. The Sogetsu School of Ikebana is known for using any available material and converting it into a beautiful piece of floral art. Smt.Namitha Suresh, President of Ikebana International, Bangalore Chapter, is a keen practitioner of this art, her speciality being innovative theme-based arrangements, as distinct from mere aesthetic ones. With Dasara just around the corner, Namitha brings to the Bhavan a special ikebana show the newly-opened KRG Hall will Smt. Namitha Suresh Ikebana arrangments 13 be filled with fragrant, attractive flowers, revolving around the theme of the festival of dolls. The centre stage of the hall will literally be sprinkled with blooms, ferns, twigs, leaves and decorative material of every colour and variety, where Namitha will put up four large flower arrangements. The rest of the auditorium will see another sixteen lush beauties a feast for the eye and balm to the soul, for nothing uplifts one s mood and spirit like a bouquet of fresh flowers. And Namitha s floral decor promises you that. Plan a trip to Bhavan between Oct. 16 and 19, when the ikebana show will be on from 10 am to 7pm. You may even want to try your hand at it and make your home a charming dwelling place, without spending a fortune on it!
