Isochronic Chakra Frequencies Guy Harriman www.lannayoga.com Isochronic (equal time) rhythms are the original form of entrainment or hypnotic trance inducing musical processes known to man. They are constant and unvarying, like the beat of the resting heart, or the sound of crickets in summer. The fetus develops listening to the mother's heartbeat, ideally at around 60 beats per minute (bpm), or 1Hz (cycle per second), if the mother is relaxed and in good active health. The ancient tribal cultures around the planet used the shamanic practice of drumming with a constant drum beat to bring the community or individual into a hypnotic condition for healing or energetic rebalancing. This entrainment was related to the mother's heartbeat, around the rate of 1 Hz (cycles per second) or 60 beats per minute. This form of drumming is heard in Native American pow-pows, the music of African witch-doctors, Siberian shamans, and South American, Australian, Asian and pre-christian native peoples in Europe. The chakra system can be tuned by using a set of frequencies which are in resonance with the chakra frequencies, reduced down to the audio range. The frequency is divided by two (lowered by one octave) repeatedly until it is is in the audible range. A well known set of such frequencies is the Solfeggio scale, dating from the middle ages in Europe, sung by the monks in Latin plainsong. They are based on the Page 1
528 Hz frequency (close to the note C), instead of the modern orchestral tuning based on 440 Hz for the note A. Solfeggio frequencies are the original sound frequencies used in Gregorian Chants, such as the great hymn to St. John the Baptist. The chants and their special Solfeggio tones were believed to impart spiritual blessings and transformation, when sung in harmony during religious occasions. The Solfeggio frequencies are: 1. In particular, do mot listen while driving or when your full attention is required for something else. Each chakra meditation also uses the binaural beat of around 4 Hz to bring the listener into the theta brainwave pattern. This is best listened two with headphones, as the two chakra frequencies are placed in the left and right ear, and then the 4 Hz beat is heard separately by the left and right hemispheres of the brain, pulling the listener further into trance. However, because Hypnotic Harmonics combines isochronic and binaural beats, it is not necessary to use headphones. Isochronic rhythms are easier to go into trance with than binaural beats, so the combination of both techniques works really well under many conditions, and with many different types of listeners. Originally, binaural beat sounds were annoying to listen to, and therefore buried in layers of synthesizer sounds. This is the case with the well known Monroe Institute Hemi-Sync products from the 1970s, for example. These sounds are much harder for the brain to entrain to, as the brain has to extract them from the layers of sound. As the brain is working hard, the listener cannot relax fully.
