Guide Use this booklet to help guide you through 13 prayer circles. 13 circles = 1 mile of prayer! We are so proud of you for praying circles around people in your life and God s plans for your life!
Prepare Start by preparing your heart and connecting with God
#1 Connect your heart with God. Recognize His presence and the fact that He wants to talk to you and hear from you today. You might talk to God and say something like, Father, I am here to meet You. Lead me. Pray through me. Reveal Yourself to me. Speak to me. Change me today because I am here to connect with You.
#1 James 4:8 - Come close to God, and God will come close to you
#2 Think about the areas of your life that don t honor God. Prepare yourself by taking some time to evaluate the things you do, what you say, what you listen to, what you watch, how you treat others, and even the things you think about.
#2 Psalm 139:23-24 - Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
#3 Confess your sins, and God will forgive and cleanse you. Take some time in this circle to receive His love and forgiveness.
#3 1 John 1:9 - But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
#4 Submit to His will tell God that you are His again, position yourself humbly to place Him FIRST in your life, and let go of everything in your life that might get in the way of you living for Him with all you are today and each day.
#4 Matthew 6:10 - May your will be done on earth [and in my life today], as it is in heaven. Ephesians 5:15-18 - Be careful how you live. Don t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit
Praise Take the next few moments to praise God for who He is and thank Him for what He has done.
#5 Praise God for who He is. Think about who God is and respond to Him in worship and praise by telling Him how awesome He is. That is one way to praise and worship Him.
#5 Psalm 95:6-7 Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! Hebrews 13:15 Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.
#6 Thank God that He is faithful and that when you align yourself with His will, allow Him to lead and guide you, and receive His promises, you can be fully confident that He is able to accomplish those things.
#6 Hebrews 11:1,6 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Pause Take some time where you re not saying anything. Just have a heart and mind that are still before the Lord so you can hear from Him.
#7 Meditate by focusing your thoughts on one verse or Scripture passage. The Bible is God s Word to you, so take some time to hear from Him by focusing in on a specific verse or passage (you can use any of the passages before, or read the passages about His Word on the back of this card).
#7 Joshua 1:8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Psalm 19:7-8 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.
#8 Listen for God to speak to your heart. It might be something specific, it might be God just pouring His love over you, or it might be something else. He wants to speak to you all the time. Listen for Him.
#8 1 Kings 19:11-12 Go out and stand before me on the mountain, the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
Petition Take the next few moments to pray for family, friends, yourself, or any situation you would like. Ask Him for whatever you need.
#9 Pray for your family. Your most important relationships with other people on this earth are your family. Whatever family situation you are in, pray for your family by name. After you ve prayed for family by name, pray for your friends. Thank God for friends that you know who encourage you in your relationship with God and ask Him to strengthen those relationships. For any friends that pull you away, ask God to give you the strength to break away from those friendships so that you can be strong and build those people up instead.
#9 1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
#10 Pray for the people that you see each day that are lost. Ask God to open opportunities for you to share Him with them, and then ask Him to give you the strength and boldness to share with them. Ask God to use you and to place people around you that can help you as you share Him with everyone you see.
#10 Matthew 9:36-38 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.
#11 Pray for any specific needs you have. God knows what you need, but when you ask Him, it shows that you know that God is the one who can meet all your needs.
#11 Matthew 7:7 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Philippians 4:6 Don t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:19 God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Praise (again) Finish your time by praising God for who He is, thanking Him for what He s done, and thanking Him for what He will continue to do!
#12 Take as long as you need to praise God again. Thank Him for specific blessings in your life (if you get stuck, remember that each heartbeat is a miracle, and thank God for small things that you take for granted). You can sing songs of praise, or even use some of the verses as guides for your praise. Just point all of your worth, thanks, and your heart to Him in praise!
#12 Hebrews 13:15 Let us give thanks all the time to God through Jesus Christ. Our gift to Him is to give thanks. Our lips should always give thanks to His name. Philippians 4:6 Don t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. I Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
#13 Finish by praising God by praying through His Word. Use the following Scriptures - or ones you choose - to finish your time by worshiping Him through praying His Word back to Him.
#13 Psalm 100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Psalm 144:9 I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp. Ephesians 5:18-19 Be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
#13 Psalm 52:9 - I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people. Psalm 100 - Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth! Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
