HEALING SOUNDS HEALING SOUNDS CORRESPONDENCE COURSE PART I Instructions Recording You will be recording certain portions of your toning sessions throughout this program. The recording may be done on standard cassettes, or digitally in some fashion. Once this section of the program is completed, the recording will be sent to the Sound Healers for assessment. CORRESPONDENCE COURSE Part I Begin the recording with your name, state the week and the day and record the very first sound of the daily exercise. Turn the recorder off. Continue with the exercise. Then turn the recorder on and record the very last sound you make for your daily session. Record literally only the first and last sounds. Do not record the entire session. NOTE: Each sound should be one breath long! Example: Turn recorder on. Say, Week 1, Day 1, first sound, then make the first sound. Turn the recorder off, complete the session and then say, Week 1, Day 1, last sound. 1
Diary Posture Make these sounds sitting up; making sure that your spine is comfortably straight. Do not sit in a forced or uncomfortably rigid position. While these sounds can be done lying down or standing up, for this program it is recommended you be sitting. Place Find a comfortable, quiet place where you can make sounds undisturbed. Allow yourself the space to do these exercises without having to answer the telephone, etc. These exercises should be viewed as a spiritual practice with your full attention. The more complete focus you can give to your exercises, the greater your awareness will be. NOTE: Do not do these exercises in a moving automobile, in the bathtub or shower. These are powerful exercises which merit your complete attention. Later in your sonic development, you may do these exercises in places you feel appropriate. Sound Vocalize all the exercises in this program in a soft, gentle tone without straining yourself. Louder is not better. If you feel yourself straining or experiencing any discomfort, stop! Return to the exercise when you have rested and try again in a quieter voice. Your diary entries can be as long or as short as you like. The important thing is you record your responses to the sounds you are creating. Pay particular attention to the physical resonance. For example, you might write something like, Tried the AH sound in three pitches. I felt the most resonance in my chest with the middle range of that sound. You might have some very profound insights that occurred with the sound that you might want to describe. These sounds will be opening up and activating different aspects of your being on a physical, emotional, mental and etheric level. Remember to be aware of how the sounding affects you, not only during the session, but afterwards as well. Note and log any differences you may be feeling before you sound and after you sound. Were you angry before the session and calm and clear afterward? Did the session activate memories or feelings? Did you have a physical imbalance that disappeared during the sounding, or was it aggravated? Every sound experience that you have is valid. Acknowledging these experiences will help you grow and learn more about yourself and sound. [If you have questions about the enunciation of any of these sounds, please contact us. Most of them are demonstrated on the Healing Sounds Instructional CD, which was included in your Pt. I package.] 2 3
Part I Part I the HEALING SOUNDS CORRESPONDENCE COURSE takes 6 weeks. The first 6 weeks of this program will be spent exploring the vowel sounds, as well as some related consonants and their effect upon your body, brain and energy centers. For the first week you will follow the exercise found on track one of the Healing Sounds Instructional CD. You will chant the vowel sounds at various pitches in order to feel and experience the resonance in your body and your energy centers. This CD is included with your materials. Please use it as you feel necessary. If you have questions or topics you would like to discuss regarding your experiences before the completion of Part I, feel free to contact us anytime. Phone: (303) 443-8181 Email: correspondencecourse@healingsounds.com The second through fifth week of Part I, you will be exploring the vowel sounds UH to EEE, as well as harmonically related consonants. In the sixth week, you will create your own system of vowel/chakra resonance. After you have completed Part I, please send a copy of your recording and your diary (keep a backup copy of each for your records). We will touch base with you shortly after receiving your package to schedule the private consultation to discuss your Pt. I work. 4 5
Exercises Week 2: Week 1: (Days 1-5 Vowels as Mantras ) NOTE: This exercise is from Side One of the Healing Sounds Instructional CD which has been included with your materials. If you have not practiced this exercise before, please spend the first two days sounding along with the tape. Then, for the next three days, find pitches for the chakras that work best for the resonance of your body and etheric centers. Day 1: MMM Day 2: UH Day 3: OOO Day 4: OH Day 5: RRR (as in huh ) (as in you ) (as in go ) If you enjoy sounding along with the background music of the Healing Sounds Instructional CD, we have included a copy of 2012:Ascension Harmonics for you. That composition provides the musical back ground for this exercise. Weeks 2 & 3: Tone the following sounds in three different pitches; one low, one medium range and one high range. Example: Day 1: Tone the MMMM sound in three different pitches. These should be comfortable, quiet sounds that are within your normal range. No need to strain or make this and other vowel sounds loudly. Tone these three pitches for a period of 5 minutes per pitch, 15 minutes all together. Write down your experiences with this sound and the three pitches. Where did you feel the pitch? What did you experience? Log all the corresponding resonances between these sounds and the parts of your body. Week 3: Day 1: AH (as in ma ) Day 2: EYE (as in high ) Day 3: AYE (as in say ) Day 4: EEE (as in me ) Day 5: NNN" 6 7
Week 4: For the next two weeks, you will be intentionally resonating different parts of your head and body (and the etheric centers associated with them) with your own sound. Consult your diary for the previous two weeks and see which vowel sound with which pitch (low, medium or high,) was most effective for resonating specific parts of your body. You will then resonate that part of your body or head as listed in the program with this tone. Example: The purpose for Day 1 is to resonate the top of your head. Consulting your diary, you found you experienced the most resonance at the top of your head with a high pitch EEE sound (it may be a completely different sound. This is just an example.). Tone this sound for 15 minutes. Then write the part of the body you resonated, the particular pitch you used and what you experienced. Included in this exercise are parts of your body not necessarily associated with the seven major energy centers, but with newly described energy centers. Week 4: Day 1: Day 2: Day 3: Day 4: Day 5: Week 5: Top of your head (7th Chakra) Forehead (6th Chakra) The back of your head Throat (5th Chakra) Upper Chest Day 1: Heart/mid chest (4th Chakra) Day 2: Upper abdomen/lower chest (3rd Chakra) Day 3: Lower abdomen (2nd Chakra) Day 4: Pelvic area/genital area Day 5: Base of spine (1st Chakra) Week 6: Create your own vowel/chakra system and tone this for 15 minutes a day. To do this, look over your diary for the past two weeks and determine which vowel sound and pitches were most applicable for resonating the particular area of the body and the corresponding chakra. Start with the sound and pitch for the 1st chakra and work up to the 7th chakra. Tone each sound seven times, using one complete breath. 8 9
The major Chakras and their associated body parts are: 1st Chakra: 2nd Chakra: 3rd Chakra: 4th Chakra: 5th Chakra: 6th Chakra: 7th Chakra: Base of Spine Lower Abdomen Upper Abdomen Mid-Chest Throat Forehead Top of Head If you have difficulty with this, go back to the exercise of the first week and begin with the Vowel/Chakra relationships found there. Then, as you feel comfortable, (and if it feels correct) begin to substitute any changes in vowels and pitch you may have noticed. You may find the relationship between vowel sounds, pitch and the chakras is in total agreement with those you experienced during the first week. You may find many differences among those sounds that work the best for you. The purpose of this exercise is to learn to create a system of sounds that works particularly for you. After you have completed this, mail in your diary and tape, call SHA and await further instructions for Part II. 2010 Jonathan Goldman Sound Healers Association 10 11
