The nominations are: Best Picture, Bill Mechanic and David Permut, producers; Best Director, Mel Gibson; Best 1
Actor in a Leading Role, Andrew Garfield; Best Film Editing; Best Sound Editing; and Best Sound Mixing. Poole Named CFO of AH Portland Aaron Poole has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Adventist Health (AH) Portland effective Feb. 1. Prior to joining the team in Portland, Poole served as CFO for Ukiah Valley Medical Center in Ukiah, Calif. He began his career working for Adventist Health at Tillamook Regional Medical Center and has also worked at the corporate headquarters in Roseville, Calif. Don Welch will remain CFO of the Pacific Northwest Region of Adventist Health, a role he has held while also serving as CFO of the medical center. Gorgeous2God Gives Young Women Message of Hope Together with the education and youth departments, the North American Division women s ministries department has developed an online blog to facilitate conversation about reallife issues and to give young women a place to ask tough questions anonymously. The blog, Gorgeous2God, serves to inspire 2
and uplift teen girls while providing a Christian perspective on how to navigate the unique challenges they face. GC/NAD Unity Discussion John Freedman, North Pacific Union Conference president, joined other union presidents from around the North American Division (NAD) and NAD leaders in a meeting Jan. 19 with Ted Wilson and select General Conference (GC) administrators. Their all-day discussion was the first step in pursuing understanding and agreement in how to proceed over issues of church governance and unity highlighted at last year s Annual Council meeting. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has published its newest position statement on vegetarian diets. It states well-planned vegetarian diets are "appropriate, and they satisfy the nutrient needs and promote normal growth at all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy and lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood and for athletes."
