Holy Spirit College Life Teen Scholarship Application 2011-2012 School Year About the Scholarship: Through the generosity of Holy Spirit College in Atlanta, Georgia, Life Teen is pleased to announce the Holy Spirit- Life Teen Scholarship. This scholarship will be provided to candidates currently involved in their Life Teen parish who desire a Theology, Philosophy, Psychology or Catholic Education degree from Holy Spirit College. This scholarship is renewable for four years given that academic and disciplinary standards are met during that period. Three scholarship levels are being offered: Level 1 Scholarship: Upon approval by Life Teen and acceptance into Holy Spirit College and a signed non- binding letter of intent, this candidate will receive a 100% tuition scholarship at Holy Spirit College. This scholarship is available for anyone pursuing a religious vocation and entering seminary or religious or consecrated life after college or otherwise working full time for the Church for a minimum of two years. Alternatively, the recipient upon graduating would serve as a Life Teen missionary for two years. Level 2 Scholarship: Upon approval by Life Teen and acceptance into Holy Spirit College, candidates will receive a 75% tuition scholarship at Holy Spirit College, contingent upon the candidate committing, upon graduating, to serve for 1 year as either a Catholic school teacher or in Catholic youth ministry. Level 3 Scholarship: Upon approval by Life Teen and acceptance into Holy Spirit College, candidates will receive a 50% tuition scholarship at Holy Spirit College and be eligible for a 25% tuition loan. Scholarship Provisions: In all cases students are responsible for accommodation fees of approximately $1900.00 per semester. Work study programs are available in the event of financial need. All scholarships are initially granted as interest- free loans and cancelled upon the graduate/student meeting their commitment to serve the Church. If such commitment is not commenced within 6 months of the earlier of withdrawing from the college or graduating, the sum loaned becomes repayable with interest from the date of graduation/withdrawal at 4% per annum. Loans must be repaid in equal monthly installments over 60 months, although payments may at the discretion of the College be deferred in the event of financial hardship. - 1-
Requirements for all applicants: Active membership in the Life Teen program at his/her home parish Successful completion of requirements for graduation from high school Successful graduation from high school no later than the Spring of 2011 Completion of application for undergraduate admission at Holy Spirit College Early Application is encouraged as scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis with acceptance Candidates should demonstrate: Involvement in his/her parish Life Teen ministry Involvement in the life of the Church/parish Leadership qualities Involvement in extracurricular activities Academic effort Active faith/morals and commitment to Christ and His Church APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS The following (3) letters of recommendation must be submitted with your application: One letter from your youth minister One letter from your parish priest One letter from a high school teacher or counselor Additional requirements: Video (1-5 minutes): Introduce yourself to us!
