Skeptical thinkers like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris vigorously attack belief in God as irrational or, even worse, dangerous. The so called New Atheism has attracted millions of young people thanks to best selling books such as The God Delusion and God is Not Great. How should Christians respond? How can we turn the tide of secularism and draw people back to God? In this film series and study program, Bishop Robert Barron reaches into our rich intellectual tradition to teach us how. Using the insights of St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Pope Benedict XVI, he uncovers a clear yet sophisticated understanding of what we mean by God. Who is God? And why does he matter? Watch this series and you ll not only learn the answers yourself, but you ll discover how to share them with others - especially those who no longer believe. Join us for 4 sessions - Leaders are Fr. Michael & John Thompson - Wednesdays February 28 - March 21 from 7-8:30pm in the school OR Saturdays, March 3 - March 24 from 9-10:30am in the school. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Our Lady of Lourdes High School presents The Drowsy Chaperone March 22nd through 24th at 7 pm each evening and a matinee performance at 2 pm on March 24th. General admission tickets are $15 and senior and students are $10. Ticket are only available at the door. Contact director Tom Lawrence at lawrencet@ollchs.org for further information. Upcoming events at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Middletown, New York. (1) The Flame of Love Prayer group is hosting a "Marian Day" in honor of The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on 14 April 2018. The day will consist of a Marian talk, Holy Hour, Healing Mass, and Divine Mercy Chaplet just to name a few. Also, a miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be present for veneration. Perhaps this event will spark interest among Marian devotees in your respective parishes. (2) The Filipino Community of Middletown, New York is hosting a Filipino Mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York on Saturday, April 21, 2018. We have a priest coming to celebrate Mass at 5:30pm. This will be followed by an Easter Fiesta/Fellowship/Potluck dinner at the parish center across the street. Our hope and intention is not only to promote the Shrine, but also to build fellowship with other Filipino families/communities around the area. I understand that those who live in the 5 boroughs already have Filipino Masses monthly. However, we are hoping to reach those that might not live so close or travel a great distance in order to attend this festive celebration. Contact Carol Bezak, Shrine Director at 845-343-1879 for information or questions.
