TO: FROM: Stake Relief Society Presidents Tucker Bishops Storehouse DATE: 2015 SUBJECT: Helpful information utilizing Tucker Bishops Storehouse Attached is information to be passed along to all Ward & Branch Relief Society Presidents in all the wards/branches. We hope this is helpful for each ward/branch and especially for new Relief Society Presidents. The Storehouse blesses many lives. It blesses both those who receive it s assistance and those who are assigned to labor at the Storehouse and in the wards and branches. The Welfare programs of the Church are inspired and follow the principles taught Jesus Christ. In order to serve the many families, we need to follow the procedures and practices described in this information. We are blessed to serve our brothers and sisters through the Tucker Bishops Storehouse. We pray that your lives and the lives of your ward/branch members will be blessed, burdens will be lifted and families will be greatly assisted the services of the Storehouse. We look forward to serving you and serving with you in this great work. Also, we have an exciting new tool to assist Stakes, wards and the Bishops Storehouse! Our website STOREHOUSEATL.ORG is about to be launched. It will enable wards that are assigned to enter the name and contact information of assigned workers coming to work at the storehouse on their assigned day. It contains a directions feature to enable custom directions from any address. It will post other information items such as truck delivery schedules, training information for Bishops and Relief Society Presidents. The website will be undergoing development for a while but it is up and running in a beta test mode. We are excited to have an online tool to communicate with the hundreds of people that interact with the Tucker Bishops Storehouse. We will let you know when it is actually ready to go, but please get ready to use it!
HELPFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TUCKER BISHOPS STOREHOUSE Address is 4823 North Royal Atlanta Drive, Tucker, GA 30084-3894 Phone # is 770-493-7788 ext. 1 The Home Storage Center is NOT the same thing as the Storehouse. It IS next door. The Home Storage Center is where you would go to buy food storage items. Their phone number is the same, but ext. 2. Our fax number is 678-990-1280. That sends orders directly to our email. Our email address is WEL-SH-Atlanta@ldschurch.org We are open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 3:00 and Saturday from 9 12:00. BEFORE you fill out an order: It s always a good idea to begin with prayer as you meet with your family to assess their needs. Before you fill out orders, PLEASE evaluate what the family needs to sustain life, not to maintain a lifestyle. Planning menus for 2 weeks is an effective method of determining what commodities to order in addition to utilizing the Patron s own resources. Tear off the pink copy of the order for the Bishop/Branch President to keep. You can have the family bring in the order to the Storehouse. or fax it to the Storehouse where it will wait until the family comes in to fill the order. Or if you are in one of our truck delivery areas, you can fax or email the order. Numbers are listed above. The Storehouse MUST be able to see the red order number in the top right corner of the order form. And it MUST have a Bishop s signature. We can t fill the order without those two things. And please be sure and put the date you are filling out the order on the form. Attached is a copy of a cover sheet that some wards/branches use when emailing in their orders. It is VERY helpful. Please consider using something like this, or at least putting the same information in your email to us. Please feel free to make one yourself so you don t have to fill in all the blanks every time. PLEASE put the name of your ward in the subject line of the email. It makes it much easier for us to find that email if you call in with questions. If you are sending in orders that will be delivered via our trucks, they must be in to the Storehouse 6:00 (EST) Monday morning. Sunday evening is even better because our Monday mornings are pretty crazy! We will ALWAYS send a reply email to let you know we received your order and list the names on the orders. If you do NOT get that email, we didn t get the order, or missed it somehow. PLEASE call us to confirm. And please check all of the names we list. Sometimes we do miss one of the orders, and sometimes you sent 5 but we only got 4, etc. The Church used to publish a cookbook using only the foods that are available in the Storehouse. They don t publish it any more but it is available on Amazon.com. It is an invaluable tool for families that aren t used to making foods from scratch. Or just for those that need more ideas. It is $2.98 on Amazon. The link is http://www.amazon.com/deseret-recipes-church-christ-latter- day/dp/b000ybdgd8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=utf8&qid=1427820463&sr=8-1&keywords=deseret+recipes It might be available other places also. It is called Deseret Recipes. Some wards have even published their own mini cookbooks using just the foods available at the Storehouse. If you make one, we would LOVE to have a copy!!
FILLING OUT AN ORDER: Please order what the family needs, not what you think they want. There are 6 chicken breasts in each package of chicken. The rest of the meat has the weight of each on the order form. We usually have wheat bread AND honey wheat bread. If you want honey wheat, you can just write that in next to the bread column. Depending on what is in season, the fruits and vegetables in season vary. Feel free to write what fruits and vegetables a family would like and we will do our best to accommodate them, if possible. Also, if a family has allergies to certain fruits or vegetables, please write No asparagus (or whatever fruit or vegetable it is) below the vegetables in season column. In the delivery address please put the delivery area if it is a truck order. For instance, Montgomery, or Opelika, etc. And then check the deliver box. If it is to be picked up in the Tucker Storehouse, just leave the delivery address blank and check the pick-up box. While a Patron is picking up their order, they might realize that they marked 2 corn instead of 2 green beans. We can exchange items within that section. We just can t add to an order. So if they decide they wanted 1 bean and 1 corn, we can exchange them. But we couldn t add 2 bags of apples. Etc. It would greatly benefit Bishops/Branch Presidents and Relief Society Presidents to serve in the Storehouse for a day. The Spirit felt in the Storehouse is uplifting and informative. Much can be learned when filling out orders received at the Storehouse. As of November 1, 2014, we have a missionary couple to help train Relief Society Presidents and Bishops/Branch Presidents with filling out Storehouse orders. They would be happy to come to your ward/branch or stake and share their expertise. They are former Tucker Bishops Storehouse managers, so they are experts. Please feel free to call them and invite them to your ward/branch or stake. Elder and Sister McElroy, 770-843-9499. They are from the Roswell Stake in Georgia. PLEASE feel free to call us at the Storehouse any time you have a question. We are here to help and to serve you. We are so grateful for your patience with us and your efforts to help us make the Storehouse an even greater place. Thank you. Sister Marci Tanner And her cast of dozens, all here to help and serve in this blessed place
