ARISE Isa 60:1 3 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. I. Prophetic scripture given to Israel, that is also being fulfilled in the Church today: A. For your light has come 1. This prophetic passage is speaking of Jesus a. John 9:5 Jesus said: I am the light of the world." 1. When Jesus came to the nation of Israel. They rejected Him as the Messiah rejected in His coming as the Messiah a. Luke 19:44 because you did not know the time of your visitation." b. John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world Knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. B. In the midst of Israel rejecting Jesus in His first coming to earth. God had a Plan to reach the Gentile world: 1. For your light has come.. Jesus a. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 2. now we are living in a day, a dispensation of Grace that is called: a. Luke 21:24 until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (1) This time to reach the Gentile world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ: (a) Telling people about the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ: 3. This times of the Gentiles will not last forever a. This times of the gentiles will cease and then heaven s focus will switch From Grace to the Gentiles to: The Jewish people (1) 2 Cor 6:2 "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation have helped you." (a) If not saved / I not Born Again / if Back slid from God / if cold & luke warm in your relationship with Jesus. (b) This is your acceptable time. This is your day of salvation of you
Will call upon Jesus today: (1) Rom 10:13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." II. Because Jesus, our Light has come: we will see discover two commands That instruct us & enable for us for living a Christian life & for ministry in the last days in which we are living: A. Isa 60:1 ARISE & Shine 1. John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." a. Heb 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (1) Under the ministry of the Old Testament High Priest, he never sat down, There was no chair in the Temple (a) Because his work was never done (b) Had to continually offer sacrifices for the sin of the people (2) But after Jesus shed His Blood for the forgiveness of our sin (a) After Jesus was buried in the tomb (b) He rose from the dead & ascended into Heaven (c) And sat down at the right hand of God the Father (d) Jesus cried out on Calvary s Cross: Jn 19:30 It is finished (1) Jesus fulfilled God s plan of salvation dying once.. shedding His blood once and for all on Calvary s Cross (2) When He ascended in heaven. And Sat Down. Declaring once Again it is finished.. 2. As long as Jesus was walking about in the world.. he was the light.. a. Now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father & sent His Holy Spirit The bible us bible now instructs us to: Arise & Shine because Jesus said: (1) Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, (2) Matt 5:15 (a) Lamp: type of the spirit of man (1) Prv 20:27 the spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord (b) Basket type of carnality that covers the light of Jesus in us (3) Gal 5:16 We are to walk in the Spirit not carnality, so the light of Jesus light can shine B. Def Arise: to continue & to endure 1. To continue: a. No matter what we face in life we cannot give up on serving The Lord,
And believing for God s promises to manifest in our life (1) Heb 12:3 For consider Him (Jesus) who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. (1) Jesus had to arise continue endure. Consider Him.. (a) Just as Jesus overcame what He faced, by God s grace so can we (2) Consider Jesus It will enable you to overcome weariness & discouragement (3) Consider Jesus It will enable you to arise / continue 2. Arise / endure: a. 2 Tim 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. (1) Arise. Endure hardship. A Christian is also to be a good soldier (2) Arise. A Christian is going to encounter warfare spiritual warfare (3) If we are going to arise, endure & 0vercome in spiritual warfare, we cannot Allow our lives to get entangled in the affairs of this life (a) Def entangled: entwined, like the braiding of hair (b) Def affairs: to busy oneself (1) Dwell C. Next we are told to SHINE 1. Def Shine: a. Break of day, glorious, kindle, set on fire (1) Remember. Now we are the light of Jesus in the world (2) Now we are to allow the Glorious the glory to shine in & thru our life (a) Isa 60:1 And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. (1) 2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. (a) That TREASURE is the glory of God in you. That is to be shining In and thru our life (b) Col 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. b. Def Glory cont: kindle.. set on fire (1) 2 Tim 1:6 That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you (a) Is your light shining? Is the glory of God breaking forth in your life, have
Rekindled the gift & fire of God in your life? III. I want you to see that we are to be spiritually shining in the midst of everything That is taking place in these last days: A. Isa 60:2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; 1. This verse informs us of a spiritual darkness that will cover the earth & the hearts and minds of people: a. Jesus faced this same spiritual condition when He walked the earth But He did not allow the powers of darkness and the darkness of the spiritual condition to win nor stop him: (1) Matt 4:16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned." (a) people who are in darkness today are to still see a great light: (1) Jesus in us B. As Jesus let His Light shine in the midst of darkness, now we who are Born Again, filled with the Holy Ghost, living holy lives 1. Are to allow the light of Jesus in us a. The glory in us to shine b. the fire in us. To shine c. to fulfill Matt 5:16 let your light so shine before men 2. Peter 1:19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; a. The morning star rises in your hearts is speaking of Jesus (1) Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. b. Jesus the morning star is to be shining from our hearts. shines in a dark place (1) The dark place is speaking of allowing The Moring Star / the Light / The Glory of Jesus in you to shine in the spiritual darkness of this present world that we are living in..
3. Phil 2:15 children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, a. note: you shine as lights in the world C. Paul understood the purpose of the light and anointing of Jesus that dwells Within every believer in: 1. Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins 2. We also see the results what takes place thru the life & ministry of the believer even in the midst of darkness who arises & allows the Light of Jesus to shine in & thru their life & ministry purpose of the Arising & Shining in a. Isa 60:2 But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, (1) Gentiles: unsaved people will be drawn to the light of Jesus in you, (2) Giving you an opportunity to: (a) Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them (b) Pray for them (c) Lead them in the sinners prayer get them saved (d) Minister peace, joy, healing, godly counsel from the Bible IV. Maybe you are sitting there thinking: A. no one is ever coming to me not being drawn to me: 1. on the job, 2. in my neighborhood 3. From my family 4. From Among my friends 5. Out & about in every day life a. And asking me about Jesus, or asking for prayer or counsel B. Then. I want to ask you a question for you to think about: 1. Did you allow your life to ARISE: a. From among the entanglements of sin & business of this world 2. Is the life you are living allowing Jesus to Shine in & thru you? a. Is the fire of God in your kindled burning with passion b. Can people see the glory of God resting upon our lives V. Altar Call:
A. #1 Have you come to the Light of Jesus 1. Have you repented of your sin & become Born Again? B. #2 or maybe you were saved but backslid 1. And you need to rededicate your life to Jesus a. And this time determine to live for Jesus alone C. If a Christian: 1. If your light is not shining a. Due to being spiritually lukewarm? (1) And you need to rekindle the fire of God in your life 2. Or if you have never been Baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking in tongues a. Take a step of faith. Take a step of new commitment by coming to this Altar for prayer.. & Jesus the Holy Spirit. God Our Father will meet With you here.
