René Clausen (b. 1953) Praise and Thanksgiving At the Procession,* Hymn 89 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Hymn to Joy Invocation* Affirmation of Faith* I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Anthem Amazing Grace David Ashley White (b. 1965) Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. The Lord hath promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures. Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease; I shall possess within the veil, a life of joy and peace. This earth will soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbear to shine; but God who called me here below will be forever mine. John Newton (1725-1807) The Parish Choir (8:45 am) The Chancel Choir (11:15 am) Betsy Stuart, oboe At the Presentation,* Hymn 95 Tune: Old Hundredth Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; praise Him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Sermon Welcoming Christ into Our Lives Response to the word Invitation to Christian Discipleship At the Invitation,* Hymn Love Lifted Me Charlie D. Tillman (see insert) sending forth Benediction* Peace* Minister People The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. Response* May the Lord, Mighty God, bless and keep you forever.
