Teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba The Shirdi Sai Mandir Toronto Canada

God is and there is nothing higher than Him. He is Perfect, Infinite and Eternal. He is the Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer. Surrender voluntarily and totally to His will. He is very compassionate. We falter in our faith in Him and lack sufficient patience. Who says He is out of reach? He is in our heart, nearer to us than the fingernail to the finger. All Gods are one. There is no difference between a Hindu and a Muslim. What God gives is never exhausted, what man gives never lasts. Death and life are the manifestations of God's activity. You cannot separate the two. God permeates all. If we see all actions as God's doing, we will be unattached and free from karmic bondage. Trust in the Guru fully. That is the only sadhana. Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai Om

Why fear when I am here? Look to Me and I will look to you. I will not allow My devotees to come to harm. My eye is ever on those who love Me. What is our duty? To behave properly. Whatever you do, wherever you may be, always bear this in mind: I am always aware of everything you do. Whoever makes Me the sole object of their love, merges in Me like a river in the ocean. My business is to give blessings. All that is seen is My form: ant, fly, prince or pauper. Bear with others patiently. I take care of My men, generation after generation, birth after birth. To God be the praise. I am only a servant of God. Simply say Sai, Sai with heart overflowing. I care not for show of respect and forms. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

Saburi (patience) ferries you across to the distant goal. I give My devotees whatever they ask, until they ask for what I want to give. Fulfill any promises you have made. The giver gives, but really he is sowing the seed for later: the gift of a rich harvest. Whenever you undertake to do something, do it thoroughly or not undertake it at all. Do not be obsessed by egotism, imagining that you are the cause of action. Everything is due to God. Distinguish right from wrong and be honest, upright and virtuous. It is the ties of previous birth which brings humans, birds and animals to each other. Do not shoo away anyone, even the meekest. Do not complain against the difficulties of life. Speak the truth and truth alone. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

Other people's acts will affect just them. It is only your own deeds that will affect you. If you cannot endure abuse from another, just say a simple word or two, or else leave. If anyone offends you do not return tit for tat. Harsh words cannot pierce your body. If anybody speaks ill of you, just continue on unperturbed. You should not stay for even one second at a place where people are speaking disrespectfully of a saint. I look on all with an equal eye. I am in everything and beyond. I fill all space. All that you see taken together is Myself. I do not shake or move. I stay by the side of whoever repeats My name. I am the slave of those who hunger and thirst after Me and treat everything else as unimportant. Be moderate in your food and recreation. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

My people do not come to Me of their own accord, it is I who seek and bring them to Me. Those who think that Baba is only in Shirdi have totally failed to know Me. Read the sacred texts. Do not engage in controversy. For every ten words you hear, speak only one word, if that is necessary. Have faith and patience. Then I will be always with you wherever you are. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. I get angry with none. Will a mother get angry with her children? Will the ocean send back the waters to the several rivers? However distant My people may be, I draw them to Me just as we pull a bird to us with a string tied to its foot. To get the knowledge (realization) of the Self, Dhyana (meditation) is necessary. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

Do not remain idle, but engage yourself in some useful activity. No one wants to take from Me what I want to give abundantly. If one devotes their entire time to Me and rests in Me, need fear nothing for body and soul. The wise are cheerful and content with their lot in life. If you are wealthy, be humble. Plants bend when they bear fruit. Get on with your worldly activities cheerfully, but do not forget God. Whatever creature comes to you, human or otherwise, treat it with consideration. Surrender the fruit of action to Him so that action will not harm or bind you. I never forsake anyone who relies on Me. God protects the righteous. Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai Om

Give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, and clothes to the naked. Then God will be pleased. There is a wall of separation between oneself and others and between you and Me. Destroy this wall! The four sadhanas and the six shastras are not necessary. Just have complete trust in your Guru, it is enough. Even though My children are thousands of miles away, I call them to Me. I am happy when they come. I enjoy their company and thrive on it. I have to care for My children night and day because I am accountable for it. All kinds of people, good, bad, wicked, vicious come to My court. Why indulge in gossip about them? I am everywhere and in all places and the whole world is with Me. As soon as a devotee calls unto me with love, I will appear. I require no train to travel. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

You need neither praise nor blame others. Members in a family are bound to have differences. But do not quarrel. One who is enlightened will not make a noise about it. You cannot escape what is preordained. You may face it with a groan or a smile. Only that choice is yours. Whatever you give Me will come back to you redoubled. Who can really satisfy the desires of another? For the more you give, the more the desires grow. It is only the Lord and the Master who can give that which is everlasting. The mind is tricky for it ensnares us in temptation. Restrain it to attain peace. Great is the reward of virtue. The vicious suffer. Do not try to get Mantra or Upadesh from anybody. Make Me the sole object of your thoughts and actions; and you will, no doubt, attain Paramartha (the spiritual goal of life). If wealth is used judiciously, it will be beneficial. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

It needs insight to recognize God. Without unflinching faith and patience, you will not see Him. Wholesome food will bring good health. A man of restraint is better than a man of indulgence. If any one abuses another, I feel the pain. Let your love and compassion flow to all creatures of God. Accept your lot cheerfully without comparing yourself with others. Do not think I am dead and gone. You will hear from Me from My Samadhi and I shall guide you. Trust in Him and do the right things. Let the inner light guide all your actions. Perform your duties conscientiously, with detachment regarding yourself as the doer but only as an instrument in His hands. You have to sever your own child from the umbilical chord when it falls athwart the womb. Om Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai

Love the creation but keep company with the Sadguru for His companionship will conduce to your welfare. It is enough if you keep me in your heart, and harmonise head with the heart. The way is difficult. But the Guru will take you straight to the destination, avoiding ditches on the way. If there be no guide, there is a danger of you being lost. You need not go far in search of Me. Barring your name and form, there exists in you as well as living beings, a sense of Being or Consciousness of Existence. That is Myself. Knowing this, you see Me inside yourself as well as in all living beings. If you practice this, you will realize all pervasiveness and thus attain one-ness with Me. Worship me selflessly and you will achieve your highest weal. Bow to Shri Sai. Peace be to all. Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai Om
