1st Technical Forum about ALICE software (9th and 10th December 2008) During the second week on December 2008, inside the computers labs of the Presbyterian University Mackenzie, some professors and some students have a few meetings in order to talk about the ALICE software. The works were begun by the conversation of the Prof. Dr. Osvaldo Ramos Tsan Hu about the current paradigms in the education. This presentation was developed and presented in an event that took place in the middle of the year of 2008, this event was organized by Digital World Forum (www.digitalworldforum.eu/). In the sequence the Prof. Dr. Edson de Almeida Rego Barros spoke on the works of the LSI in the Poli/USP (www.lsi.usp.br/interativos) with the computers of US$100. It reported experiences of the group OLPC/Brazil (One Laptop per Child), which it was re-nominated for UCA (Um Computador por Aluno A Computer for Pupil). Subsequently the student Daniel Arndt Alves, who works at DTI (Division of Technology of the Information) of the Presbyterian University Mackenzie, who effectuated a series of tests with Minicomputers and the software ALICE, had the opportunity for presenting the obtained results. Pereira spoke on his recent travel for Pittsburgh, where it had the opportunity for talking with the people of the group of the project ALICE in the Carnegie Mellon University (www.cmu.edu), besides another group of the University of Pittsburgh (www.pitt.edu/) who work others projects. The beginning of the afternoon of the 1st day were dedicated the presentation of the group of the ALICE and his partners. We spoke on the contacts in the USA and the expectations of action in Brazil. During the rest of the afternoon of the 1st day the environment of the software were showed up and some simple examples were done. They all began to glimpse the potential of the proposal. In the beginning of the 2 nd day, between several discussions, the student Gabriel Prioli Xavier de Paiva presented on his experience in the 1 st Forum about the Marathon of Programming, an activity of extension developed in the School of Engineering, in the laboratory HSBC in the building 4, like a preparation for the competition of the regional phase of the ACM-ICPC (http://maratona.ime.usp.br/). When there is continuing with the works of the 2 nd day the Profa. Msc Magda Aparecida Salgueiro Duro, coordinator of the activities of university extension in the School of Engineering (UPM), presented an institutional video. In the opportunity she also spoke on the opportunities of action of the Project ALICE in Brazil like an activity of Extension. Fig 17 - Profa. Msc. Fig 20 2 st day lunch. In the afternoon of the 2 nd day the works were dedicated the presentation of material produced by the people of the Carnegie Mellon. We also investigated a little more the official site of (www.alice.org), the possibilities to send some questions, to become involved in the communities and to accompany the periodic publications.
