Dear Partners in Ministry, I pray that you are having a blessed summer. This is my favorite season. I love warm weather and the opportunity it brings to enjoy the beauty of God creation through outdoor activities. Our summer camping season at Camp Christian is off to a great start. I realize that even though the first day of summer was a few days ago, fall is just around the corner and that is usually when the congregational calendar picks back up. I want to be sure that you have an important regional event to put on your calendar for prayer and involvement. On Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 4:00 pm, Northwest Christian Church in Columbus is hosting the service of installation for our new Regional ministerial staff, Rev. Stephen Bentley, Rev. Dr. LaTaunya Bynum and Rev. Dr. Brenda Webster. This special gathering of the Regional Church for worship will take place on World Communion Sunday. It is also the Sunday the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) promotes the Reconciliation special day offering. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend this celebration of worship and praise. I look forward with great anticipation of what God will do through us as ministers of the Gospel and leaders in Christ s church in the days ahead. It is my hope and prayer that each man in your congregation, from Advanced Conference age through the oldest of the congregation, come and be a part of an exciting time in the life of Christ and the Christian church. This year s theme is, Transforming Men to Transform the World with our quest speaker Dr. Alvin Jackson. Dr. Jackson has served many of our largest churches: Mississippi Blvd in Memphis, TN; National City Christian Church in Washington, DC; and is currently the pastor of Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City, NY. He has also served as Moderator of the General Church. Dr. Jackson is well known as one of our best speakers. Registration materials are on-line and in paper form for each congregation in the region. I need each pastor s help in helping to reach the goal of at least 150 men in attendance for this special weekend. It s an opportunity for real men of Christ to actively lift up the name of Christ. Once again, each participant may choose to pay and attend the entire weekend or pay for a portion of this spectacular retreat. Help us help each other!
