Their attitude often can be: If I really give to my marriage what all the books and counselors say I should, my ministry will suffer. Someone once said that the darkest place of any lighthouse is always at its base. The same can be said of our families. A Rabbi, pastor or ministry leader can shine a radiant beam out to the horizons, warning passing ships of dangerous waters while their own unmaintained plumbing floods the home. How to Balance Marriage & Ministry Individual Identity Couple Ministry Family 1. Admit that you are part of the problem the hero. 2. Stop and consider what you are doing. 3. Ask your family and yourself some questions: 1. Is the frantic pace I m on worth it? 2. How will this continued pace impact my family, my health, my ministry? 3. Will these things matter in eternity? 4. Check your spiritual barometer. Process for Restoring Balance 1. Be decisive in what matters most... don t engage in activities that are not important. 2. Live with margin Sabbath 3. Never lose your focus... keep your eyes on what God has called you to do. 4. Concentrate on your gifts... wise up and say yes to the best that you can offer and give. 5. Eliminate the unnecessary... many of the things we engage in are not necessarily wrong they are simply not necessary. 1 Cor 11:14 15:... for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.
