THE FINAL PLAGUE Exodus 11:1-10
PSALM 111:2-3 The LORD s works are great, studied by all who delight in them. All that He does is splendid and majestic; His righteousness endures forever.
THE FINAL PLAGUE IS A UNIQUE PLAGUE: 1. It gives us more insight than all the other plagues combined. 2. It produced the salvation of Israel. 3. It is still celebrated today, and we indirectly celebrate it every week. 4. This plague most clearly points to Christ.
EXODUS 11:1-10 The Lord said to Moses, I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will drive you out of here. Now announce to the people that both men and women should ask their neighbors for silver and gold jewelry.
EXODUS 11:1-10 The Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. And the man Moses was highly regarded in the land of Egypt by Pharaoh s officials and the people. So Moses said, This is what Yahweh says: About midnight I will go throughout Egypt, and every firstborn male in the land of Egypt will die,

Then there will be a great cry of anguish through all the land of Egypt such as never was before, or ever will be again. But against all the Israelites, whether man or beast, not even a dog will snarl,
EXODUS 11:1-10 so that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. All these officials of yours will come down to me and bow before me, saying: Leave, you and all the people who follow you. After that, I will leave. And he left Pharaoh s presence in fierce anger.
EXODUS 11:1-10 The Lord said to Moses, Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his land.
1. This is the announcement of the final plague.

2. The final plague will result in freedom for the Jews.

EXODUS 3:21-22 And I will give these people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you go, you will not go emptyhanded. Each woman will ask her neighbor and any woman staying in her house for silver and gold jewelry, and clothing, and you will put them on your sons and daughters. So you will plunder the Egyptians.
3. The final plague is the death of all first-born males in Egypt.
EXODUS 11:4-5 So Moses said, This is what Yahweh says: About midnight I will go throughout Egypt, and every firstborn male in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the servant girl who is behind the millstones, as well as every firstborn of the livestock.
4. The final plague would produce unprecedented anguish.
EXODUS 11:6 Then there will be a great cry of anguish through all the land of Egypt such as never was before, or ever will be again.
EXODUS 12:30 During the night Pharaoh got up, he along with all his official and all the Egyptians, and there was a loud wailing throughout Egypt because there wasn t a house without someone dead.
5. The final plague would pass over the Israelites.
EXODUS 11:7 But against all the Israelites, whether man or beast, not even a dog will snarl, so that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.
6. The final plague would humiliate Pharaoh and the gods of Egypt.
EXODUS 11:8 All these officials of yours will come down to me and bow before me, saying: Leave, you and all the people who follow you. After that, I will leave.
EXODUS 12:12 I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night and strike every firstborn male in the land of Egypt. both man and beast. I am the LORD; I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt.
7. The final plague points to Jesus.
COLOSSIANS 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
ROMANS 8:29 That He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
CONCLUSION 1. God hates sin far more than we realize. 2. Our only hope on our judgment day is Jesus.
