Wanted: qualified swimmers (lifeguards) to work in the Yoga Festival security We need people, who are qualified, or who are willing to qualify as rescue swimmers (in Germany that would be a qualification by the DLRG). The river Anglin that borders our property is pretty shallow, and only by the bridge is the current rather strong, but we need to have good security for our children. We are also going to build a fence. 2012: The Dawn of a New Age The rhythm of life becomes faster day by day. Opportunities for change are everywhere. More and more people take responsibility for their own lives. Even our bodies change in a positive way as we learn how to deal with stress, burnout and depression. Never was it more necessary to work on ourselves. This is the dawn of a new age! We are entering the Age of Aquarius It will be a new time. The entire psyche is changing. You must purify the mind, body and soul to be real, innocent, and sattvic (pure). Elevate yourself to be angelic. This age which you will serve is an age of awareness and experience. Yogi Bhajan What happens at the Yoga Festival? About 2000 people from as many as 20 different countries come together for 8 days on the grounds of a country estate in the centre of France, to practice Kundalini Yoga, White Tantric Yoga and other activities related to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Each year the Festival highlights a specific aspect of Yoga, but it also provides special attention to newcomers who have little or no experience of Yoga practice. The day starts early with yoga and meditation in a big meadow as the sun slowly rises. Breakfast is simple vegetable soup and some oranges and bananas; this is part of an ancient purifying diet to facilitate the yoga. After breakfast the camp breaks up into language groups, called Missels. In these small communities we create the group consciousness of the festival through special exercises and meditations, sharing information and getting to know each other. A period of doing Karma Yoga, the selfless action that organises and maintains this festival, is also part of the Missel meeting. Later in the morning, there are a variety of workshops to choose from. In the afternoon there is a large all camp yoga workshop, with translation into the different languages. Dinner is the second part of the diet: mung beans and rice, hot sauce, carrots and salad. Afterwards there is free time for social and family activities as well as a bazaar, study groups, and sports. If this is your first time, there will be a basic introduction to Kundalini Yoga and the Yoga Festival, in your own language, at the same time as the evening yoga class. The highlight of the festival is a three-day White Tantric Yoga session. White Tantric Yoga is a very powerful and spiritually purifying yoga, where couples sit in long lines and practice Kundalini Yoga mantras, mudras (hand postures) and breathing exercises.
Another part of the festival is the children s camp for ages 2 to 12. Adults are welcome to participate in this camp for one day as part of their Karma Yoga experience. There is also a program for teenagers, complete with workshops and outings. The Yoga Festival is a lot of fun, but also provides a challenge. The optimum purifying and transforming effects will happen if you allow yourself to remain on the diet and stay in the energy of the site for the whole eight days. General Information The Yoga Festival is basically a camping event. There is a limited amount of beds in dormitory tents and tents with air mattresses for rent available, please see www.3ho-kundalini-yoga.eu under dormitories/tents. There is also a list available for places to stay in the surroundings. Our new location, an exciting première: In 2012 we are moving the festival to our own beautiful land of Chateau Anand, between Tours and Poitiers. Chateau Anand offers us lots of sunny space, silent forest all around, a river to swim and canoe in, ample modern facilities and not even that great a distance (2 hrs. driving) to the ocean. From the north by car: Take the autoroute A10 from Tours direction Chatellerault. Take the exit to La Roche-Posay. In La Roche-Posay follow the signs to Angles-sur-l Anglin. At the exit of Angles-sur-l Anglin follow the signs to Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé. Before entering Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé take the first turn left to Saint-Savin and follow the Yoga Festival signs. From the south by car: Take the autoroute A10 from Poitiers to Chatellerault. Take the exit La Roche Posay. The rest is the same as coming from the north. Travel by plane or train By Plane : Most people fly into Charles de Gaulle Paris airport. From there you can take a train to Poitiers or Chatellerault and a group-taxi or shuttle-bus the site. In summer there are cheap flights available from several European destinations directly to Poitiers or Tours. By Train: The nearest train station is Chatellerault (about 35 min. driving from Chateau Anand, but a lot more trains go to Poitiers (about 1 hr. driving from Chateau Anand). For train schedule and prices go to www.voyages-sncf.com Bus or Taxi Bus: We will organize bus transportation at different times on July
31st. More details here on this website in July. There is a regular bus service from Poitiers to Saint- Savin (20 min. driving from Chateau Anand). Of course it is also possible to take a (group) taxi. Please only use authorized, official taxis for transportation to the festival. Arrival Date We need to keep to our reserved arrival and departure days. Please plan to arrive and set up on Tuesday, July 31st. If you arrive on Monday July 30 or want to stay August 9 or 10 (this is only possible for campers, not for those in dormitories) a fee of 20 per adult, 10 per child up to 12 years old is to be paid to Jan Pfeiler, at the office of the chateau. Please do not arrive before July 31st. Registration will be open from 9:00 until 21:00 on Tuesday July 31st (after that registration times will be posted). The program starts on Tue. July 31st with dinner at 3 pm and the opening ceremony at 5 pm. At 7:45 pm, at the same time as the evening yoga and healing meditation, there will be introductory classes for first-time participants. The White Tantric Yoga course will begin on Sat. August 4th and continue through Mon. August 6th. Peace Prayer Day will be on Tue. August 7th. The Festival concludes on Wed. August 8th after breakfast.
