Dick Nathan District Secretary 2017-2018 Rotary on the Internet Welcome to this session on Rotary on the Internet and why it matters to someone who is going to be a Club President even more so that it has ever done in the past.

Rotary on the Internet Logging in to Rotary Delegation of your access Presidential Citation Foundation Grant (incl. Scholars) If you want to count in Rotary If you want money from Clubs for a project If you want to be part of Today s Rotary We are going to start with logging in to the MyRotary web site. You find the MyRotary web site on the main Rotary Web Site, www.rotary.org by click on the link to My Rotary. Is there anyone here who would describe themselves as not being an IT Expert well you are catered for with the section on Delegation. Is this stuff important? Yes it is! If you want a Presidential Citation, or a Rotary Foundation Grant, or to host a scholar, or you want your club s projects to count, or you want to be part of Rotary in the 21st Century this stuff has to be done!

Logging in... President President Elect Club Secretary Club Treasurer Foundation Chairman Membership Chairman This is what you do... Logging in to My Rotary gives you a single page on which all the information you need can be found as a series of links to other Rotary Pages. If you are a President, President Elect, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer, Foundation Chairman or Membership Chairman, you will get special access to functions on the Rotary Website that the rest of us do not see. So this is what you do <Play first video here>

Delegation You can delegate the work but not the responsibility Delegation on the MyRotary web site is just over a year old. You delegate your authority to do some or all of your Rotary jobs on the web site, but you do NOT delegate your responsibility for how those jobs are done. You are still responsible even though you are getting someone else to do the work. This is ideal if you are not good with computers but there is someone in your Club who can do these things for you. Let s see what is involved...

Delegation Once you are logged in, your name appears at the top of the MyRotary screen here. Click on your name and a menu appears. The second option is Delegation, so click on it.

Delegation The screen shows 1. Your roles hopefully it says President Elect today! 2. The roles you have delegated to other Rotarians in your Club. 3. The roles if any other Rotarians have delegated to you.

Delegation To start the Delegation process, click on Delegate Role for the job that you wish to delegate.

Delegation Type in the Rotary Name of the person that you are delegating the role to. I say Rotary Name because my name is Richard, but everybody in Rotary knows me as Dick. After you have finished typing the name, the system tries to find that name. If there are lots, you will have to chose the right one!

Delegation Enter the start date. Enter the end date. If you are Club President from 01 July 2017 to 30 June 2018, you cannot delegate the role until 31 December 2018.

Delegation The role you just delegated appears now on your list of jobs delegated. Let s look at that a little closer...

Delegation You can edit the delegation details at any time. You can remove the delegation at any time. Even though you have delegated the role of Club Treasurer in this example, you can still perform the role of Club Treasurer yourself if you need to. Please note: You have not told anyone your password. You have not changed your settings with regard to Discussion Groups, Email Groups, Rotary Action Groups, Newsletters or anything else. It is safe and it works well. If you don t like computers, it could be a Godsend. Let s see this being done for real <Play delegation video here>

Rotary Club Central (RCC) RCC is in My Rotary RCC stores details of your Club RCC stores details of your Rotarians RCC stores details of your Service Projects RCC stores details of your Foundation Giving RCC is now at the heart of Rotary administration RCC adds everything up for you Now that you can delegate the jobs that you cannot do, let s look at Rotary Club Central. It lives in My Rotary, and stores details of your Club, of your Rotarians, of your Service Projects, of your Foundation Giving, and is now at the heart of Rotary Administration. It adds everything up for you, and it allows you to see trends in your figures. Gone are the days of the Club Secretary leaving with all the details of the Club everything is stored on-line now. Let s see part of a short video introducing Rotary Club Central and the Benefits it delivers. <Play the third video now>

Rotary SHOWCASE ANY ROTARIAN THE ROTARY SHOWCASE My younger son David asked a question so many times that it has now become a family tradition. He would ask, What is the Point? So my question to you is, What is the point of all the service We do, and our Clubs do, if no one ever gets to know about it? (It s not showing off, it s communication.) The Rotary Showcase tackles exactly that issue. Any Rotarian can add a project to the Rotary Showcase. The Rotary Showcase is visible to the public provided they can access the Internet.

Rotary SHOWCASE If it is not on the SHOWCASE It DOES NOT COUNT I have said it before, and I will say it again If it is not in the Rotary Showcase It does not count And here is what Rotarians have done around the world since the start of the Rotary Showcase.

Rotary SHOWCASE So here I am, logged into My Rotary on the Rotary International Web Site at www.rotary.org I have clicked on Take Action, and here is the Rotary Showcase...

Rotary SHOWCASE I am logged in as an ordinary Club Rotarian, and in the Rotary Showcase I can see this prompt Add a new project. I click on it and

Rotary SHOWCASE I get a list of projects that my Club has added to the Rotary Showcase. We only want each project to appear once, so when adding a new project, it will always show the projects that are already listed. If my project is not yet there, I can click on Add my project.

Rotary SHOWCASE I then fill in this form, adding details about the project, and some photos so that it is attractive to look at. Remember, any Rotarian can do this, so if you cannot put photos on to web sites, the chances are someone in your Club can!

Rotary SHOWCASE Towards the bottom of the form are the four boxes that put a value on the project. These are the four boxes that get totalled for what Rotary is doing for the District and for the World. Don t forget to click on Save at the bottom of the form, or you will be doing it all over again! And that is all there is to adding a project to the Rotary Showcase. The Rotary Showcase links through to Rotary Club Central, and to the Presidential Citation, so it is important for your Club.

Rotary IDEAS ANY ROTARY IDEAS CROWD FUNDING C PA LU YP B AL PRESIDENT PRES.ELECT SECRETARY TREASURER FOUND TION MEMB SHIP Similar in some ways to Rotary Showcase is Rotary Ideas. Similar but Different! Rotary Ideas supports Crowd Funding raising money from the public. Rotary Ideas can only be set up by the President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Foundation Chairman or Membership Committee Chairman. The set up the project requesting funding, the public see the project, and they can support it with money, goods-in-kind, volunteers and their time, all through the Rotary Ideas web site. If you are hoping for money, you will have to set up a Club Account with PayPal, which may cost you 1.4% + 20p per transaction at today s rates.

Rotary IDEAS Let s do a quick example. I am logged into My Rotary as a Club Treasurer. On Take Action is Rotary Ideas, and I click on it.

Rotary IDEAS As I am a Club Treasurer, I get a prompt to Start a Project Now. I click on the button.

Rotary IDEAS Firstly, I have to confirm that I accept the 9 pages of Terms and Conditions that apply to the Rotary Ideas Website. There is then the usual web site form to complete, which I won t detail now, but it is similar to the Rotary Showcase Form. One difference is that I can ask for contributions either to the Rotary Foundation using my Grant Reference Number, or as is the case here, I can ask for On-line Contributions through PayPal.

Rotary IDEAS At the bottom of the form, I have to confirm that I am not a Robot - a check to make sure that a real person has filled in the form. I can then save the project and set up the details of the PayPal account to be used for the project. And in no time, this part of the project is set up. Now the work begins...

Rotary IDEAS Rotary IDEAS WEBSITE Money FACEBOOK YOUR CLUB PROJECT TWITTER Publicity Rotary SHOWCASE LINKED IN GOOGLE & Wikipedia I have set up my Club Project. If I want the public to find my project, I need to link my website page on the project to Rotary Ideas, I need to link my facebook posts and my tweets to the Rotary Ideas page. I also need to tell my LinkedIn network about the project and link my network to Rotary Ideas. And the same can be done through Google Business and Wikipedia for my town. The public will hopefully support the project, donating funds to the project in Rotary Ideas, and all of that will get me the publicity my club deserves.

Branding Are you part of Rotary International? Do you look like part of Rotary International? It is so easy to get it right! Now that I have mentioned publicity for the project, it is important for all of us in the Club, in the District, in RIBI and in the whole of Rotary that my project appears to be: Part of Rotary International. It needs to look like part of Rotary International It is a task that is quick and easy to get right. Have a look at this short video <Play the fourth video now>

Rotary ON THE INTERNET Why it is important How to delegate if it is not your thing Rotary Club Central Goals AND Achievements Rotary Showcase it all adds up Rotary Ideas Crowd Funding Branding be a part of Rotary International So in this short presentation I hope that I have opened the door on why all this stuff that you access by logging in to My Rotary is so important. You can delegate the work if computing is not your thing. You have seen Rotary Club Central and how to record the goals and achievements. You have seen how what you enter in Rotary Showcase all adds up. You have seen how Rotary Ideas can garner funds and help with publicity. You have seen how important it is that your work appears to be part of Rotary International.
