Core Ministries of WaterStone Africa Hope Community Using a participative approach, Africa Hope Community assists African immigrant women in achieving their highest potential as they integrate into the U. S. culture while strengthening ties with their homeland. It is a ministry that looks inward at the needs of our church community and is based on reflecting the love of Christ as described in Acts 6:3 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13. Deacons are assigned a group of 10 individuals or families, and they serve them by praying once a week, connecting via phone or email monthly and meeting in person once a year. They also provide participants with the knowledge and means to control their own food security. This is accomplished through a gardening education program, the Produce for the People program, and the Community Fruit Orchard and Garden. There are now more than 2,800 verified homeless children, and that number is growing daily. Less-Homeless provides temporary shelter for those in Jefferson County. Men s Ministry Men s Ministry helps men engage in the dynamic process of heart transformation and growth toward spiritual maturity, so that they may reproduce disciples and radically affect the culture in which they live, all to God s glory. Trips to Central Asia, Dominican Republic, domestic immigrant groups, Spain and Uganda are designed for youth, families and adults. There is a need for people with all different gifts.
