DO YOU KNOW YOUR GOD? BY OMLE RUTH UCHE
He said to them, But who do you say that I am? 16 Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed [a] in heaven. (MATTHEW 16:15-19, NKJV) It s great when we know who we are in Christ. But do you what s even greater? When we know (emphasis on know ) who our God is. But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. (Daniel 11:32, NKJV) Do you know who your God is? Do you know who your Father is? Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that: The thief s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. (John 10:10, NLT). In Matthew 4:6, satan tempts Jesus saying if You are the Son of God, not only has he purposely dropped the word Beloved. He is careful to hide the identity of the Father. But Jesus knew His Father. He knew God as His Provider, Strength and Truth (Jehovah Jireh) and He responded: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4) Jesus knew His Father as the Almighty God of Knowledge, Justice and Holiness, and so He said: You shall not tempt the LORD your God. (Deuteronomy 6:16; Matthew 4:17; 1 Samuel 2:3) Jesus knew His Father as a Jealous God, God Most High, the God of His praise and the God of Glory, and He countered satan s lies saying: You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve, (Deuteronomy 6:13; Matthew 4:10) The devil has not forgotten who your Father is; but he wants you to forget. Remember how we are meant to resist the devil? By submitting to God: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7)
And to submit means to accept, to bow and to yield to a superior authority because you have knowledge of the power of that authority. To know means: - To give someone a particular name or title; - to be aware of through observation, inquiry and information; - to have developed a relationship with someone through meeting and spending time with them; - to be absolutely certain and sure about something; - to recognize, be familiar, acquainted with and have a personal experience; Again, do not forget that the devil is very aware of the Mightiness of God, but he wants you to forget that your Father is: 1. El Rachum - The Merciful God (Deuteronomy 4:31; Nehemiah 9:31) This list is inexhaustible. As such in order to come to a complete yet part knowledge of (1 Corinthians 13:12) who your Father is, spending time with Him through reading His word is very inevitable. Because, then, you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32, NKJV). You cannot know the true nature of a person unless you spend time with them. Meditate and completely soak yourself with God s words, so that having done so you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:11).
See also Proverbs 17:27 He who has knowledge spares his words. And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Next time the devil tries to oppress you with his lies and deceit, tell him you have not forgotten who your God is. You know your GOD. Stand firm and, Refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) (2 Corinthians 10:5, AMP) Do you know your God? But the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits *for God+ (Daniel 11:32, AMP).
