Hello Sacred Heart Parents and Families, As many of you know, each year the National Catholic Education Association spends the last week in January celebrating our Catholic Schools and the blessing they are to their children, families, and greater community. Here, students come to learn, serve, lead, and succeed. In keeping with this theme, we have some exciting events scheduled here in our own community of Sacred Heart. I am excited to share them with you and invite you to join us! Sunday, January 28 th Celebrating our Parish Without a doubt, Sacred Heart School would not be where it is today without the prayerful support of our wonderful parish, lead by our pastor Fr. John. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parish at Masses this weekend for the great things we are able to accomplish because of their belief in and support of our school. We invite all of our SHS students to wear their uniforms to Mass this weekend and members of our school community will share personal testimonies of the benefit of our school. Our Parish is our biggest supporter in every way so let s be sure to show them how grateful we are and wear our uniforms proudly! We will also have our annual Open House from 11am-1pm. Spread the word that our teachers will be in the building to talk about all the phenomenal things we have going on at Sacred Heart School. Members of our Student Council will also be available to give tours and speak about our student life here. This is an opportunity for people to learn about what makes Catholic schools unique all are welcome! We love talking about what we love doing here at SHS! Monday, January 29 th Catholic Schools in our Community On Monday at 9am in the SHS Auditorium, we will start our week with our traditional Living Rosary, hosted by Mrs. Huth s 5 th Grade Class. Students from all grades will have an opportunity to lead us in prayer and you are of course invited to join us! Please remember your Rosary for you and for your child!

This will be a special Rosary offered for all the first responders of our community. If you know of a police officer, fire-fighter, or EMT who would like to join us for this special prayer and blessing, please do invite them as well! Light refreshments will be served. That afternoon, we will also make a school-wide prayer chain! Classes will be partnered up to support each other in their prayer intentions. Students will each make links to our prayer chain with prayers for themselves, those they love, and around the world. Stop by throughout the week to see it hung on our main level! Tuesday, January 30 st Celebrating our Students You know and love our dress down days, but why not dress UP!? It s awards season in Hollywood so we are going to take this opportunity to award the stars of Mount Holly Sacred Heart Students! We will be rolling out the red carpet and taking some flash photography of our favorite Catholic School students the Chargers! Be sure to come to school red carpet ready and dressed UP! At 1:30, we will begin our annual Knowledge Bowl, which will conclude with a special Academy Awards Ceremony for our Sacred Heart Students. Please feel free to join us! This evening will also be our 2 nd general PTA Meeting. As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week and, in a special way, our school, I will also be giving a special presentation: Sacred Heart School: Today, Tomorrow, and Always! This presentation will focus on our academic, spiritual, and financial accomplishments and goals. I will also announce the new tuition model for 2018-2019 and kick-off registration for next year. The meeting begins at 7:15pm. Please plan on attending! Wednesday, January 31 st Celebrating our Nation Today, we will be taking up collections and offering special prayers for the Wounded Warrior Project. The class that brings in the most donations will be honored with a pizza party and movie afternoon to be scheduled with the homeroom teacher!

To celebrate the history of our nation, our 3 rd -5 th graders will be hosting a wax museum focusing on important American figures in our history. Come to the Auditorium at 1pm for a walk through US history as we honor those figures who made us great! Of course, we will still be celebrating what makes us unique. At 8am, we will have our annual Spelling Bee for students in 5-8 th grade. The rest of the morning, our 8 th graders will be hopping from class to class performing their famous Paper Bag Parables. We can t wait to see them! Thursday, February 1 st Celebrating Vocations Often when we think of vocations, we think specifically of religious vocations. But at Sacred Heart, we know that we are all called to know, love, and serve God in this life so that we can be with Him in eternal joy in the next life. To that end, we will celebrate our own vocations by focusing on the service of others. Each class will have its own service project that it will execute throughout the day so that our students may come to know their vocations as workers in the Lord s vineyard. Furthermore, to celebrate our students living out their current vocation as students, we will honor them with a special Ice Cream Social during their lunch period. If you are interested in and able to help out, I m sure our PTA would appreciate it! If you re available between 11am and 1pm, please contact Rob at ptapresident@sacred-heart-school.org Thanks to our PTA, we will also have our annual Family Fun Night! Come on out for a night of skating at the ISC in Mount Laurel (1 Hovtech Boulevard) from 6:30-8:30pm. Skates and skate time is FREE! Many thanks to our PTA for making this happen! Friday, February 2 nd Celebrating our teachers and families Naturally, we will end this week as we began it, and as we do all things with prayer! Please join us for what the saints have called the most perfect form of prayer: The Mass. At this Mass, we will celebrate our teachers and our families. Each student is welcome to invite one special person to join them for this Mass: an aunt or uncle, a grandparent, a

cousin, or anyone who is special in this student s life. Our special guests are welcome to sit with their student and his/her class. After Mass, our PTA is generously hosting a reception for all students and all special guests. Join us for prayer and donuts! You might even see a Sacred Heart Flash Mob! Mass begins at 8:30. Please have special guests sign up here no later than Wednesday, January 31 st. We also ask all guests to sign up in advance here and sign-in in the main office before Mass. Our reception will be held in the Auditorium. We ask that all guests are signed up through our website no later than January 31 st. Saturday, February 3 rd This year, we will be ending Catholic Schools Week with the 2 nd annual Diamond Gala! Join us for a night of celebration as we honor Sacred Heart s past, present, and future. Catholic Education is truly a treasure and to celebrate all Catholic schools bring to our lives, we will have a chance to win a diamond necklace! We will also honor a true treasure from our school, Ms. Michelle Babb, giving her the Legend Award after giving generously to SHS for 17 years! We hope you will join us for this and all of these great events! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know! And may you and your family remain ever close to the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Ms. Besheer PS: Be sure to pop in at some point to see our beautifully decorated doors! Our students and teachers have really brought their A-game to win our annual Door Decorating Contest! This year s theme: SUPERHEROES!! Our winners will be announced on Friday!
