TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 18, 2015 Welcome to Michael Rheault St. Gabriel Parish Music & Choir Director This weekend, we welcome Mr. Michael Rheault as our parish s new organist, music and choir director. Michael is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts obtaining a Bachelor of Music Degree as well as a certificate of Music Education. Most recently, he has served as the organist and music director for two Springfield area parishes. In addition to his career in church music, Michael has also been involved in music instruction and education, as well as musical theater. Following an initial meeting with Father Ruminski and me, Michael was please to meet and audition before a representative group of parishioners three members of our adult choir, as well as the parish council president and the two parish trustees. All gave a favorable opinion and recommended to me that he be hired. I was pleased to do so. Michael will be the organist at all three of our weekend Masses, and will direct the choir at the Sunday 10:30 Mass. He will also conduct weekly choir rehearsals during the year. In addition, he will be our regular organist for parish weddings and funerals. In all of our names, I extend a warm welcome! The schedule and sign-up sheets are available in main entrance to the Church. Rides from Saint Joseph Church to Hartford and back will be available. Thank you to Mrs. Bridget Scarlato & Mrs. Nancy Lickwar As we welcome our new music director, I wish to sincerely thank our former organist and music director, Mrs. Bridget Scarlato, as well as our parish organist at the Saturday afternoon Vigil Mass, Mrs. Nancy Lickwar. Bridget s performance at Sunday morning Mass and throughout the liturgical year, as well her attention to and direction of our adult choir has been very much appreciated these past couple of years. Her fine rapport with the members of the choir, in particular, has been worthy of note. As she leaves us to take up a new position, we wish her the very best. Likewise, many thanks to Mrs. Nancy Lickwar. Nancy has been our organist at the Saturday Vigil Mass for several years. Nancy also has played at some parish funerals and other events. She and her husband, Deacon Carl, have made quite a team! Her dedication to our parish, while also playing on Sunday mornings in a New Britain parish, are a testament to her goodwill and positive spirit. Nancy will continue to be present and play on occasion as the situation warrants in a back-up position for vacations, illness, etc. as her schedule permits. I am most grateful to Nancy for her understanding and spirit of cooperation in this time of transition. St. Gabriel Parish Hall Meeting Fr.
