Guidelines for Fasting & Abstinence During Lent Fasting and Abstinence are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Abstinence is to be observed on all Fridays in Lent. Fasting: The law of fasting requires a Catholic from the 18th birthday to the 59th year (completed on the 60th birthday) to reduce the amount of food eaten from normal. The Church defines this as one meal a day and two smaller meals which, if added together, would not exceed the main meal in quantity. Fasting is obligatory on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Abstinence: All persons who have completed their 14th year are bound by the law of abstinence. During Lent abstinence from meat on Fridays is obligatory. Those who are excused from fast and abstinence, besides those outside the age limits, include the sick or those with some other medical reason, the frail and pregnant or nursing women. Lenten Reconciliation Archdiocesan program The Light is on for You The goal is to bring about a renewal of the sacrament of reconciliation throughout the Archdiocese. Our parish will be participating. In order to achieve this, confessions will be heard at St. Peter s from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evenings during Lent (March 7, 14, 21, 28) Išpažintys bus klausomos kiekvieną Gavėnių trečiadienį, šv.
