After training at Western Seminary and Dallas Theological Seminary, he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on May 11, 1975 by Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas, Texas. Personal Interests Carl enjoys out of door activities including camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, running and gardening. His latest project is restoring a 1944 Ford GPW--a military jeep. He also likes to do research into his Laney family history. He has written several family biographies, In Memory of Otis, In Memory of the Montana Kid, and The O. L. Chivers Family of Dublin, Geogia.
