Basic Christian Theology Lesson 1 Workbook What is Theology? Acts 28:17-31 1. According to verse 24, what is the result of Paul's teaching? 2. In verse 28, Paul defines why he is teaching in this way. Why is it? 3. How long did Paul teach, according to verse 30? 4. In what manner did Paul preach, according to verse 31? 5. Could you preach and teach about God for two years, with anyone who would listen? Why/why not? 2 Timothy 3:14-17 1. Where in verse 16 does the passage say the Scriptures originated? 2. What does this passage say the Scriptures are good for?

Homework Memorize 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Take time this week to move theology from just a head/learning issue to a heart/life matter. In life, many scenarios will play out where you will need to explain your Christian theology to others. If you study the scriptures diligently you will be ready to give an answer even if someone tries to catch you off-guard.

How would you explain this to an unbeliever? 3. Does your head hurt yet? Why is this even important? Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16-17; Job 33:4 1. In which of these verses is Jesus called Creator? 2. In which of these passages is the Holy Spirit referred to as a creator? 3. Can we conclude form the Bible that God Father, Son, and Spirit created all all that has been created? 4. What difference should this make in the way you live? Why does it matter that you were created by God?

In what ways do you think Father, Son, and Spirit love uniquely? 1 John 3:20; John 16:30; 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 1. Do you live aware that God knows everything? What do you think living like that would look like? 2. If God knows everything, that means He knows your heart, your hurts, and your deepest worries. How does it feel to know the God of the universe is intimately aware of your emotions and needs? 3. Do you ever try to hide from God? Why is that pointless? Homework Memorize Deuteronomy 6:4 Dedicate time several times a week (if not more often) to meditate on the character of of God who He is, what He does, and how He loves you.

Basic Christian Theology Lesson 3 Workbook The Church Acts 1:1-8 1. This is the beginning of the book of Acts. According to verse 3, Jesus appeared to His followers for 40 days doing what? 2. What question do the disciples ask Jesus about the Kingdom? 3. What does He promise will happen to them? Acts 2:38-47 1. According to verse 38, what does Peter say needs to be done to be saved? 2. Who offers this salvation by invitation in verse 39? 3. How do you think salvation relates to membership within the Church? 4. Go back and count the times they is used in this passage. Who are they? 5. How does the Church feel in verse 43? Why?

6. Verses 44-47 discuss some of the things people did together. What are some of those things? 7. Do you believe this picture of the Church is similar to how the Church is today? What are some differences? Homework Matthew 16:18 Pray for the Church, not just your church, but The Church. Pray for God's Kingdom to reign on earth as it does in Heaven. What steps can you take to help accomplish this?

Basic Christian Theology Lesson 4 Workbook Sin and Salvation Acts 26:15-18 Verses 16-18 are Jesus words to Paul. They include several contrasts concerning the state of humanity and what God has in mind for humanity. 1. What are some of these contrasts? 2. What do you think it means for man to be in darkness? What would it look like if man were in the light? 3. What are some visible evidences in our world of Satan s rule? What about God s rule? Genesis 1:26-31 and Genesis 2:15-25 22 1. Let s start basic. Where do the Scriptures say man originated? 2. According to Genesis 1, in what image was man created? 3. What value does man come with if he is made in God s image? 4. What does God think about His Creation of mankind in Genesis 1:31?

Romans 5:12 1. How do you think sin has changed humanity? How has it interfered with our original purpose? 2. Death is the just product of sin. How does it make you feel to know that we were never meant to die? Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 3:9-10, and Romans 6:6-11 1. In these passages, what is the Old Self? 2. In these passages, what is the New Self? 3. What is the passage way between our Old Self and New Self? 4. Who has paved the way for this transformation? How? 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 1. Verse 26 says that we are NOT what? 2. Verse 29 says we should not boast. Why do you think that is?

3. The first part of verse 30 declares who deserves the credit for our salvation and strength. Who is that? Homework Memorize Philippians 2:12-13 Take a good look at yourself, then determine if your old nature is in charge or if your life has been transformed and your new nature is firmly in control. If certain sins continue to tempt you, read the scriptures and ask God for wisdom on ways to overcome these temptations.

On a scale from 1-10, how much do you think you anticipate the return of Christ? How often do you think about it? 2. Does the knowledge of the end of the world change the way you live? How so? 3. How much do you think other people live with the anticipation of Christ s return on their minds?

4. How would a more urgent expectation of the end of time change the way we share the Good News with others? Matthew 24:44, 1 Thessalonians 5:8, 2 Peter 3:11, Revelation 22:7 1. What is one way that you can be more alert concerning the return of Christ and the end of this world? How can you make yourself more aware? 2. What do you think it means to be prepared for Christ s coming? Are you prepared? 3. What about other people around you? How prepared are they? 4. Do you ever talk to people about the End Times? Why/why not? Do you think you should? What purpose in evangelism does it serve? Homework Memorize Acts 1:11 If you are not already doing so, begin to live you life with the expectation that Jesus could return at any moment. If you, your friends, or family members are not ready for Jesus' return, prepare today. Do not be idle continue to use the gifts God has given you to reach others with the Good News.
