REMAINING MASS INTENTIONS FOR 2014 There are 10 remaining mass intention spots left for 2014. 2015 MASS INTENTION BOOK NOW OPEN The 2015 Mass intention book has been opened and the parish is now accepting 2015 mass intentions. To offer up 2015 Mass intentions, please visit the office during office hours. WHO CAN OFFER UP MASS INTENTIONS? Any Catholic may offer up the Mass in which he or she participates for any good intention. Certainly, graces will accrue in accordance with the intensity of that person's participation and sincerity. This is a genuine exercise of the royal or common priesthood of the faithful. However, the custom of requesting a priest to offer the Mass for a specific intention, even when one cannot be physically present at the Mass, is a longstanding tradition in the Church. This is because the Church considers the Mass as the greatest possible prayer of intercession insofar as it is the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the paschal mystery of his death and resurrection. -Father Edward McNamara, professor of liturgy at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University. Announcements Worldwide Marriage Encounter is a positive and personal experience for a couple, which offers them a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It s an opportunity to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It s a time to share their feelings, their hopes, fears, frustrations, and joys. Worldwide Marriage Encounter is not a professional counseling service. It is not a retreat, nor is it a marriage clinic or sensitivity course. The family (based on marriage) is indeed sacred: it is the place in which life the gift of God can be properly welcomed and protected against the many attacks to which it is exposed, and can develop in accordance with what constitutes authentic human growth. In the face of the so-called culture of death, the family is the heart of the culture of life." ~John Paul II, Centesimus Annus, 39
