Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... September 25-27 are the dates of our Fall Renewal Conference. It was 1997 and Harvest Church had just started. Knowing the blessings of a prolonged, focused time of seeking God, I asked Mark Nysewander to come from Minneapolis to lead our first Spiritual Life Conference in the Girard Middle School cafeteria. The Lord used that time to bless us and many of the things that define Harvest Church today started in that conference. Mark has ministered at Harvest other times over the years always allowing the Lord to speak to us through him. Two years ago Mark s teaching on revival prepared us for the amazing extended conference we had in May through July of 2015. Mark is always seeking for God to reveal more of His glory and power and is in tune with the Holy Spirit. He will be with us again September 25-27. These conferences are important because they provide opportunities for life changing breakthroughs and accelerated growth with God. Nothing is more important in life! As we prepare for the conference, ask the Lord to show you what He wants to change in you. Ask Him to fill you (and all of us) with true hunger for more of Him and faith that all things are possible with God. Pray for personal revival to have greater joy in Him and love and devotion for Him. Then pray for a move of God that will transform your family, friends, church, and city. I believe He wants us to be different after this conference than we are right now. Ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit and to teach you how to live an ABUNDANT LIFE that counts for all eternity!

Group Life Keith Frith Small Groups Pastor 334-702-6555 x232 grouplife@harvestdothan.com No small groups or classes will meet the Sunday-Wednesday of the Fall Renewal Conference (September 25-28). One: open small group Everyone is invited to our open small group on Wednesdays at 6:45pm in the Worship Center. Our current study, One, is based on the movie Woodlawn and will help prepare our hearts to experience revival and embrace a move of God. Spiritual Maturity 101: The essentials The goal of our Spiritual Maturity Classes is to provide teaching to equip us to be successful followers of Christ. SMC101 will help you get started well in the Christian journey. Join us on Sundays at 5:15pm in the Worship Center (we will meet in the Office Bldg on September 18). Discipleship 1: Life as a Disciple We will be forming a new D1 group soon. We will have a guest speaker and dinner during this time. Childcare is available. Meeting dates are as follows: September 21, October 12 & 26, November 9 & 30, December 14. harvest worship & Performing arts Rusty Frith Director of Worship & Performing Arts Academy 334-702-6555 x247 worship@harvestdothan.com I wanted to share some verses from a message on praise and worship that stood out to me as foundational to worship. I hope this will be an encouragement to you! Why worship God: 1. God asks us to worship Him. The largest book of the Bible is Psalms - full of praises. 2. Praise is our purpose. (1 Peter 2:9) 3. Because of what God has done. (Ps 145:3, Ps 48:1, Ps. 96:4, Luke 19:37-40) He who has been forgiven much loves much. 4. Worship changes everything. (Ps 18:3, Ps 95:5, John 4:23) Some helpful thoughts for worship: 1. Worship is based on choice, not feeling. (Habakkah 3:17-18, Hebrews 13:15) 2. Worship with everything you have. (2 Samuel 24:24, Mark 12:30) 3. Worship God expecting Him to respond. (Ps 22, James 4:8) Not The Same Our new Harvest Worship CD, Not the Same, is available for $12 at the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings. Pre-ordered CDs are also available for pick-up. Choir & Worship Team Dinner There is a choir and worship team dinner and fellowship on Thursday, September 22, from 6-7pm in the Worship Center to begin preparations for Christmas music. If you are interested in joining the choir or worship team, feel free to join us! We will provide you with sheet music for our Christmas program. 3

ministry teams Sandy Uhler Director of Ministry Teams 334-702-6555 x237 ministryteams@harvestdothan.com We encourage you to get connected to ministry at Harvest. For a detailed list of ministry teams, pick up a Ministry Opportunities booklet at the Welcome Center or one of the info tables around the church. If you need more information or have any questions, email ministryteams@harvestdothan.com. We are all called to serve. Answer the call! Spiritual Gifts Discovery Want to learn more about your spiritual gifts? Take the online Spiritual Gifts Discovery assessment! When you complete it, your results will be sent back to us so we can help you make the connection between your gifts and areas of service in ministry at Harvest. To request an assessment, visit www.harvestdothan.com and click on the Spiritual Gifts Discovery button. Early Bird Serving Opportunities Behind the scenes teams: Worship Center Prep, Parking Set-up, and Refreshment Prep (floor & balcony). If you are an early riser, then we have a team that is just right for you. Ushers Ushers cheerfully help guests and all attendees find a seat in the Worship Center. They also help manage the Worship Center under the direction of the usher ministry team leader and pastoral staff. Ushers serve once a month on the Sunday morning of their choice. No formal training is required, just a willingness to help with this simple, yet very important part of our Sunday worship services. Ushers are currently needed for both services (floor & balcony). We invite you to join the team! Parking Team The worship service begins in the parking lot! As a dedicated member of the parking ministry team, you have a distinct opportunity to make that experience a positive one. This team facilitates the safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians at each of the Sunday services. They also serve on an as needed basis for church-wide and special events. Parking team members serve once a month before each Sunday morning service. congregational care Roy Rogers Congregational Care Pastor 334-702-6555 x234 ccare@harvestdothan.com Bereavements Please be in prayer for the following people: Ruth Jeffers and family during the loss of her nephew Anthony Spurlock. Harvest Youth Josh Moore Youth Pastor 334-702-6555 x250 youth@harvestdothan.com We are looking forward to our time at the beach in October when we are taking our annual fall retreat to Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center. We will leave Thursday, October 13, after school and come home late Saturday evening, October 15. We are very excited that Mike Bond will be our guest speaker. He spoke at this years backto-school kick-off and has spoken at our youth conference in the past. He is a great communicator to students, and we are looking forward to what God wants to do in the lives of each one who comes. The cost is $95 which is all inclusive and a great price for a retreat of this caliber. If you have any questions, please contact us. We recently started back into small groups and discipleship for the fall semester. We are very happy to have over 80 students in groups! We will be starting a Discipleship 1 for students (7th-12th grade) in October, so be looking for more info on that in the next newsletter. In a culture that is increasingly antagonistic toward faith and disillusioned with Church, we know that God has called us to reach our generation with the truth of His love and goodness. Many young people are bound in the darkness and emptiness of the world; the only solution for them is the light and life found in Christ. We want to be people who live with purpose and who call others to a life of purpose and meaning! If you are a young adult (20s), a college student, or have recently graduated, we invite you to join us on Tuesday nights at 7pm for worship, teaching, and to build long-lasting friendships.
