STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY Ever since I became involved with the world of academia, I have developed an increased interest in critical thinking and have urged my students to become critical thinkers as well. Such independent thinking is, I believe, one of the most valuable assets that a student may be endowed with. As such my classes, seminars and discussion forums have all been based on such expectations from my students. This has raised the level of interest of students and has brought liveliness into the classrooms. I intend to continue encouraging my students to be critical thinkers and to develop their own minds in all matters of life. I think in this part of the world we do need such kind of a generation as we proceed toward a more liberal and democratic era. STATEMENT OF SCHOLARLY INTERESTS My scholarly interests focus on issues of culture and communication. As I teach both organizational communication and mass communication, I have focused more on issues of environmental variables that tend to color organizational activities as well as communication in the mass level. Thus, issues of globalization and impact of intercultural interaction are becoming more prominent in my writings and teaching as well.
