GOD MADE THE WORLD EATIO made day, night, the land, and plants. LEADER BIBLE STUDY N CR LIFE POINT: G od The most basic question for science and philosophy is, How did the universe begin? LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. In the 20th century, secular astronomers came to the undisputed conclusion that the entire universe (time, space, matter, and energy) had a beginning from nothing. But they cannot, in any way, explain how. Genesis 1:1 gives the only reasonable answer to the how question God BIBLE PASSAGE created everything. God revealed that the universe exists because He brought it into Genesis 1:1-19; 2:2 existence from nothing. The Hebrew word translated created is bara, which means WEEKLY VERSE specially created (it is also used twice for mankind s creation in verse 27). In the beginning God made the world. Genesis 1:1 UNIT VERSE In the beginning God made the world. Genesis 1:1 Beyond that initial creation event, Genesis 1 2 outlines the six-day progression God followed to create the earth. We will look at the first four days in this session. Initially the earth was dark and formless over the waters. So the Spirit of God created light, which established days and nights. On day two, He formed the sky. On day three, dry land emerged. He called the land earth and the waters seas. God made plants and trees and declared them good. On day four, God opened the skies to reveal the sun, moon, and stars to light the earth. The sun was to have dominion over the day, and the moon governed the night. The stars also shone brightly, and God saw it was good. Why can t science tell us how the universe was made? Why is it necessary for God to reveal how the universe was made? How was God s declaration that His creation is good reflective of His holy nature? NOTE: Downloadable versions of items identified as CD are available in the Music and Print Extras Bundle. UNIT 1, SESSION 1 GOD MADE THE WORLD Based on Genesis 1:1-19; 2:2 In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth. Only God was there. God said, Let the light shine. And light began to shine. God separated the light (the day) from the darkness (the night). That was the very first day. God separated the water from the sky. That was the second day. God said, Let the water gather together and let dry land appear. The dry land appeared. God called the water seas and the dry land earth. God saw that what He had made was good. God said, Let plants and trees grow on the earth. The plants and trees began to grow. The plants had seeds so that more plants would grow. God saw that all these things were good. That was the third day. God said, Let lights shine in the sky to provide light on the earth. God made the sun for the daytime and the moon for the nighttime. He also made stars. God saw it was good. This was the fourth day. All the things God made were good. Unit 1 Bible Stories for Kids Bible Studies For Life Kindergarten, Fall 2016 2016 LifeWay. Printed in the United States of America. LEARNING THE STORIES West Africa KIMBERLY CAIN Children all over the world are important to Jesus. He loves them and wants them to learn about Him when they are very young. Christian workers, like Kimberly Cain in West Africa, love the children like Jesus does. Sometimes Kimberly teaches kids as they sit on mats on the dusty ground. Sometimes she teaches kids at a local church where the roof is made of woven grass. That church building might not look like yours, but the children in West Africa are learning the same stories from the Bible that you are! Kimberly uses a storying cloth to tell stories from the Bible. Each picture on the cloth tells a story. Kimberly tells children the story of creation and continues with stories about Jesus so children can grow up knowing Him and telling others about Him. Ways to pray for the people and missionaries in West Africa: Pray that missionaries will be willing and able to learn the language spoken by the people so they can tell the people about Jesus. Pray for missionaries as they adjust to a different culture in a part of the world where the temperature stays very hot all year. Pray that the children of West Africa will learn to follow Jesus at a young age. Bible Studies For Life Kindergarten, Fall 2016 2016 LifeWay. Published in the United States of America
