Surah Al Waaqiah Ayah 75-96 16 th June 2011
Surah Al Waaqiah (Ayah 75 96) Introduction In the previous Ayat Allah has provided us with the logical evidence about our creator. Allah is the Al Awwal and The Aakhir. Allah has shown us the ways of the س ب ق ونن,ٱٱل who always rely only on Allah; The Awwal and The Aakhir. We need to always take the means from Allah and wait for the result from Allah This is the level of ٱٱل س ب ق ونن as they have full reliance on Allah. After the procedures of the Day of Judgment are over, a group of 70,000 people will enter first into Paradise without reckoning. Ayah 75 to 78 Here Allah Almighty swears and takes an oath from his creation. When Allah swears, He swears by His creations but human beings are not allowed to swear by any of Allah s creations. We can only swear by Allah. In Quran whenever Allah wants to draw our attention to anything important He takes an oath. In this Ayah Allah swears by location of stars! There are two ways to explain this Ayah. Some Scholars say, when we look at stars in the night they are not in their actual place, it is actually their reflection. The position of the stars that we see is not the actual location but Allah swears by their exact location, this is another of the miracles in the Quran. Some scholars say that here Allah swears by the setting of the stars, as in the morning the position of the stars is different since they disappear, while in the night their position is different. Jawaabe Qasam (Reply of the oath) there is always an answer to the Qasam (oath). This indicates Allah s greatness! Here what is the subject of the oath/swear? The subject of the oath is the Quran, and how important is the Quran al Kareem!
The connection here is between the stars and the Quran: The purpose of creation of stars is to give guidance for the traveller and similarly Quran is the guidance for mankind who are also travelers in Duniya. How different are the stars, some are very bright, some very clear, some are hidden, this is similar to Allah s Ayat, some are clear, some have deep meanings. This is the reason why Allah swears by the stars and says verily the Quran is Kareem. There are two affirmations about the Quran. Kareem means noble, generous and pure. Diamonds and precious stones in Arabic are called hajarat qareem, which means pure and extremely clear precious stones. This is because of way the diamonds and other precious stones illuminate and shine. Allah describes Quran as Kareem. The explanation is as follows: 1) Quran is generous as there is loads of knowledge and goodness in it for everyone, and not for any selected group. The Quran is open for everyone. 2) The Quran is generous in its hasanaat and the impact of Quran will be in its hearing, pondering and recitation. It will reform the person to be a better human being. It is like a precious stone that illuminates. In surah Isra Allah describes the best deeds are from Quran. It is more than a precious treasure but people do not realize it. 3) Quran is pure and has no defects, perfect, no mistakes. It is infact a miracle. 4) The title for Quran al Kareem is from Allah so the Quran is honorable. 5) Quran is kitaab al maqnoon (The book well guarded). The meaning of maqnoon is that no harm will touch it. Allah has similarly preserved the Quran and it is well guarded therefore Quran is Kareem (Honorable) Today if people try to put doubts in Quran, Allah immediately reveals it if someone is trying to do something wrong to it e.g. print Quran with mistakes. This is because Allah guards it. The Quran is guarded and hidden from the shayaateen. 3
Ayah 79 to 80 Here Allah tells us that since the Quran is an honorable book therefore only the purified can touch it. taahara means be purified. This is from ٱٱل م طط هھرر وونن Allah has purified them. This means angels who are pure from any sins Some people misunderstand that here it means that we cannot touch the Quran unless we do wudhu. Allah is talking about the angels. Allah is telling us no one can touch it except angels, who are the purified ones. How did Allah reveal the Quran? In parts. Quran is Qalam Allah, Quran is from our Rub the one who nurtures us and reforms us. If we want to refine ourselves then we must follow and act upon Quran, as it is Tanzeeem ul Rabil Alameen. The Quran is a special nurturing from Allah; it is tarbiyaah Khaasah from Allah. Ayah 81 Here Allah tells us that even with all the evidences there are people who are denying it. This can also mean not giving it its real importance; we do not take the Quran seriously. Some people know it is the truth but they hide the fact, they want to do what suits them. Despite all the evidences provided there are people who still do not trust the Quran! A person who understands Quran will accept everything and act upon it. 4
Ayah 82 Provisions given to us by Allah رر زز ق ك م Allah provides our Rizq to us, all blessings are from Allah but some people attribute the provisions to themselves. The person who attributes wealth, children, and any provisions to himself it is as though he is denying it from Allah by giving himself the credit for everything. Even when people around us deal with us with kindness and mercy we should remember it is from Allah. We should ponder and increase our faith by reminding ourselves that all our blessings are from Allah. The source for all blessings is Allah. All these Ayat should wake us up and make us want to be the first foremost in doing ٱٱل س ب ق ونن good deeds, to be amongst the The moment someone realizes his mistakes then repents to Allah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim, Allah expiates his sins and gives him more guidance so he can enter Paradise. On the other hand if even after getting this knowledge someone does not change his ways and actions then it is a big loss for him, the person who does not direct his worship to Allah. Ayah 83 to 85 In this Ayah Allah describes the transit time that is the time of death. A person leaves the Duniya at the time of death. When the time of death comes no one can deny it. The soul of a dying person leaves through the throat at the time of 5
his death. The soul exits from the toe till it reach the throat, and at that moment the person knows that he will die. We can find that the toes of a dying person are cold. The agony of death for any dying person is difficult to bear. It was even difficult for our Prophet SAW then we can imagine how it will be for a normal human being. For a believer the angels come and take the soul gently as though it is a small pinch. However the soul of a disbeliever will be taken very severely but this severity is nothing compared to the punishment in hellfire. When the angels of death come to take the soul only the dying person is able to see them. No one else can see them. It is a Sunnah that people around the dying person should say Rehmat Allah, giving him hope of Allah s mercy and giving him comfort of the glad tidings from Allah. In this life we have to be part of ٱٱل س ب ق ونن. We should never delay in doing good, as we do not know how much time we have. When the soul comes to the throat then it is too late to repent. We need to ahead and be ٱٱل س ب ق ونن in life, who always rush to do good. Allah will make ٱٱل س ب ق ونن first ones to enter paradise. Allah reminds us in Duniya. Always Allah sends us the guidance. For any dying person people ask for a doctor but Allah is closer to us than our throats. In life people are holding hands and they think of themselves to be close to the dying person but Allah is closer by His knowledge or by His angels but we cannot see. However the unseen will be shown only to the dying person. Ayah 86 to 87 Here Allah says if there is no accounting, no recompense, no judgment then are you able to return your souls back to your body? If there is no reckoning, then are you able to return to your bodies? Of course this is impossible, then why are we denying it? Even when we are alive we do not have the knowledge of our soul, we do not know where it is. After this Allah divides the dying persons in three groups. 6
Ayah 88 to 93 In these Ayat Allah divides the soul of the dying person in three groups. The first group is the ٱٱل م ق رب يین (The ones who are close to Allah). How to grow closer to Allah? By doing more voluntary good deeds. They will have رر يی ح انن which means this dying person will get comfort and will not have any fear while departing from Duniya. When the angels come with the glad tiding what would the ٱٱل م ق رب يین feel? The ones who always hasten to do good deeds. Angels will come to them in a manner without causing any grief or fear and they will give them glad tidings. Such a person will wish to die to meet Allah. رر يی ح انن means they will smell all beautiful smells; the angels will comfort them. The angels come closer to them with beautiful smell. Their souls will be shrouded with musk, which is smell from Paradise. This person is still in transit he will see the paradise he will get the status of م ق رب يین,ٱٱل who will enter paradise without any waiting. After Day of Judgment they will enter Paradise and they will get different types of delight for their heart, emotions and there is no difficulty. So 7
is it not worth to go through hardship in this Duniya for Allah? Paradise is better than all the delights of the Duniya e.g. if we leave some sin, or some unlawful desire in Duniya for Allah then in return Allah will give us pleasure in our heart and will give us the gift of guidance. The second group of people is ا أ ص ح ب.ٱٱل يی م يین They are the righteous people who are postponing or delaying good deeds. There will be stages of purification for them but at the end they will go to Paradise. Angels will say salaam to them, as they are.ٱٱل س ب ق ونن companions of right. Their degree will be less than The third group of people is the ٱٱل م ك ذب يین who are 1.Those who have no faith and no good deeds. 2.Those who have faith but no good deeds. Therefore it is important to have both good deeds and faith in Allah. The first hospitality for their whole life will be boiling water e.g. for some dying persons we can see cuts or marks as punishment from angels. Ayah 95 Here Allah is telling us that from the beginning till end the Quran is the truth. It is the truth of certainty. In this life we have belief on the Day of Judgment but on the Day of Judgment it will be ح ق ٱٱل يی ق يین which means the true certainty. Ayah 96 Glory be to the perfect lord. We need to glorify Allah with our heart and tongue when we say bismi it means speak about the greatness of your lord. Subhaanaa Rabbi Ala Azeem. Walhamdulilah hi Rabil Alameen May Allah increase us in faith, knowledge and make us from the ones who act upon.ٱٱل س ب ق ونن the knowledge. Surah Waaqiah should make us desire to be among the 8
