Who I Am In Christ Freedom, life, and joy begin when we have a true understanding of God and the Father-heart of God. We must know who we are as God s children, and that the nature of our relationship with Him is based on who we are in Christ. The daily renewing of our minds in the truth of what it means to be God s chosen and adopted child is essential for every follower of Jesus. My Identity in Christ I am In Christ In Him [Jesus] you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation having also believed, you were sealed in Him [Jesus] with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13, NASB95) As a follower of Jesus, I am in In Christ. Through the work of God, I am sealed in Jesus with the Holy Spirit. God now sees me in His Son Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has graciously and lovingly bestowed upon me a new identity! In Christ, I am a new creation. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV) In Christ, I am radically loved by God. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8, NASB95) In Christ, I am completely forgiven of all my sin. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us. (Ephesians 1:7 8, ESV) In Christ, I am not condemned. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1, ESV)

In Christ, I am completely forgiven of all my sin. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13 14, ESV) In Christ, I am complete. In Him you have been made complete. (Colossians 2:10, NASB95) In Christ, I am totally righteous. And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith. (Philippians 3:9, ESV) For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV) In Christ, I am accepted by God. Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God. (Romans 15:7, NASB95) In Christ, I belong to God. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19 20, ESV) In Christ, I belong to God. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9, ESV) In Christ, I have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. (Ephesians 1:3 4, ESV)

In Christ, I am God s work of art created for good works. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10, ESV) In Christ, God has chosen and adopted me so that I would be holy and blameless. Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, (Ephesians 1:4 5, ESV) In Christ, I am set free set free from the law of sin and death For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2, ESV) In Christ, I am no longer a slave of sin. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. (Romans 6:6, ESV) In Christ, I am now a slave to righteousness. But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6:17 18, ESV) In Christ, I am seated in the heavenly places with Jesus. and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:6, ESV) Great News!!! Because of my new identity, my life is no longer defined by any circumstances, personal failures, sins, or anything someone else has declared over me. Neither am I defined by what I do. Rather, my life is permanently defined by my new identity in Christ!

Additional Promises of God Through Christ I have peace with God. Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1, ESV) Through Jesus Christ I have direct access to God. Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14 16, ESV) Through Christ, I can do all things through His strength. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13, ESV) I am a child of God. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12, ESV) See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. (1 John 3:1, ESV) I am a citizen of heaven. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20, ESV) I am hidden with Christ in God and Jesus is now my life. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ (who is your life appears), then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:3 4, ESV) I am established, anointed, and sealed by God And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (2 Corinthians 1:21 22, ESV)

God will supply all my needs. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19, ESV) God will never leave me nor forsake me. I will not leave you or forsake you. (Joshua 1:5, ESV) God has begun a good work in me and He will complete it. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6, ESV) I cannot be separated from God s love for me. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38 39, NASB95) I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a self-control. For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV) I have died with Christ, been buried with Christ, and also raised with Christ, in order that I now walk in the new life of Jesus in me. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4, ESV) I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20, ESV) I am no longer a slave, but a child and heir So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. (Galatians 4:7, ESV)
