Dear Reader, It has been said that nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer. It is prayer that connects our heart to the heart of God and moves His hand in our life. Understanding the necessity of prayer is not enough. In order for it to become a part of our life, it needs to become something we look forward to doing. I m convinced that most people don t enjoy prayer because they have never been taught how to pray. That s where this simple prayer journal can help. Using several prayer models out of the Bible and having a guide to make prayer more personal, this booklet is designed to bring joy into your time with God. When you discover the beauty of daily conversation with Him, you ll experience the presence of God that will change your life. Let prayer be your first response, not your last resort. Lifestyle Prayer

Lifestyle Prayer How do we make prayer a part of our everyday life? We can learn from three things that Jesus did Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. (Mark 1:35) A CERTAIN TIME Jesus got up very early in the morning to spend time with His Heavenly Father. In order for prayer to be a regular part of our day, we should do the same. Make a daily appointment with God and keep it. A CERTAIN PLACE Jesus had a prayer place. Your prayer place needs to be an undistracted environment where you can pray out loud and perhaps have some worship music playing in the background. A CERTAIN PLAN Go into your prayer time with a plan. If it changes, that s fine. When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He gave them a prayer outline. We call it the Lord s Prayer. Read Matthew 6:9-13 for ideas. 6

How To Use This Journal Participate in the prayer session each morning in person or online at lifepoint.org/live, Facebook Live, or The Lifepoint App. Take notes during the speaker s introduction and use those and the scripture of the day as prayer prompts for the time of personal prayer. Review the journal entries weekly, watching for themes of what God is saying specifically to you. Parents, since we have not included kid-specific content, we encourage you to review the guide before sitting down with your kids and praying with them. This is a great opportunity to build the joy of talking regularly with God into the rhythm of your family life. 8

SCRIPTURE Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Day 8 January 14, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Lifepoint College growth of college/faculty, provision for the building, and a thriving student body. SCRIPTURE He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. - Colossians 1:28 17

Day 9 January 15, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Federal, state, and local government, first responders safety, protection, discernment, and wisdom. SCRIPTURE I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. - 1 Timothy 2:1-3 18

Day 10 January 16, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT The Church Body of Christ that we all work for unity in Christ; for revival across the globe. SCRIPTURE Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. - Ephesians 4:3 19

Day 11 January 17, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Armed forces protection, wisdom, discernment, and families at home. SCRIPTURE So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10 20

Day 12 January 18, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Dream Teams across all Lifepoint campuses. Day 14 January 20, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Employment for those out of work. SCRIPTURE And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19 23

Day 15 January 21, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Campus expansion, new buildings, and core team launches. SCRIPTURE David also said to Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished. - 1 Chronicles 28:20 24

Day 16 January 22, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT National and local outreach partners. SCRIPTURE In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:4-6 25

Day 20 January 26, 2018 PRAYER PROMPT Physical healing. SCRIPTURE Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. - Psalm 107:19-21 29
