Rima Britt coordinated this project. She, Larry Gracie, Dick AhKao, and Dick s daughter delivered the shower bags to Father Rojas in Newton Grove. These bags and the toiletries that fill them are greatly appreciated by the seasonal farmworkers who harvest the crops of our Eastern North Carolina farms. Easter Food Baskets Delivered to Fifteen Needy Families Through an effort coordinated by Kay DeSalvo and Cathy Santore, Easter food baskets were delivered to fifteen needy families in Pamlico County. Thanks to Kay and Cathy for purchasing the food and putting together the baskets that made Easter happier for these fifteen families. May Collection for the Interfaith Refugee Ministry During May, the Outreach Committee will be collecting much-needed items for the Interfaith

Refugee Ministry (IRM) in New Bern. This ministry, which works with the U.S. Refugee Administration, is the only refugee resettlement agency in Eastern NC. The IRM welcomes over 00 refugees each year who are escaping religious, ethnic, and political persecution, assisting them with clothing, food, housing, English language training, and finding jobs. Within six months, most are self-sufficient. To assist the IRM in furnishing the apartments of new refugees, the Outreach Committee will be collecting the following items in May: kitchen utensils, pots and pans, and flatware. If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring them to the parish hall by May and put them in the Outreach bin. Also, if you have furniture you would like to donate, especially kitchen tables, chairs, and twin beds, please call the IRM Director, Susan Husson, at 5-6-9009 to arrange for pick-up. A Thank-You from the Interfaith Refugee Ministry The Interfaith Refugee Ministry would like to thank all those who made cash donations to help support the Burmese family whose three young sons were recently murdered. The Ministry appreciates not only the cash donations but also the prayers and many expressions of support for this grieving family. Thank You from Fishes and Loaves and the Outreach Committee The Pamlico County Fishes and Loaves Outreach and the St. Thomas Outreach Committee wish to thank St. Thomas parishioners for their generosity during the recent Fishes and Loaves food drive. On April 7, Martha Meskauskas, a member of our Outreach Committee, delivered twenty-seven grocery bags, filled to the brim, to Fishes and Loaves at St. Peter s Church. As Martha said, A great show for St. Thomas. Fishes and Loaves is seeking a volunteer who could pick up groceries from area grocery stores once a month or more an bring them to St. Peter s. If you could volunteer in this capacity, please give Alice Sontag a call: 5-9-797. Thanks again to all who donated so generously to feed the hungry in Pamlico County. Altar Guild News Thanks to Susan King who gave her all all alone during April! Judy Wickersham & Wendy Seward will attend to the Lord s Altar for May.
