The Hub at ADM Class of 2016 Application Pack
Why we started The Hub at ADM Before I joined ADM as CEO, I founded a tech company. Like you I saw a need and was compelled by my faith to act. From this experience, I know what it s like to be a Christian woman starting an organisation. My experience taught me that community is integral to the start of any organisation. I had the counsel of people with character, and the support of my own church. I was not alone. However, it took time and work to find a broader community of Christians who were part of my work world, and who understood the larger objectives of seeking to bring about gospelcentred renewal in the world. It was in this broader community that the opportunities for my own Christian formation began to appear, as well as the possibilities of establishing a distinctly Christian approach to work. But the numbers don t lie: there simply are not enough hours in the day for any one person to start an organisation and build a broader Christian community in which to practise that work. In response to this need for community, we re starting The Hub at ADM. ADM has been the home of pioneering Christian women over the past 124 years. Today there are a number of organisations and initiatives led by pioneering Christian women. Organisationally, they face a number of challenges, some of which are similar in nature. Does this sound like you? Do you know women doing this work? Or perhaps you know someone who should be called out to do so! By creating a community and providing the space, as well as a seminar program, introductions, and connections, we hope to support Christian women as they seek to do Christ s work in the world. We hope you will be encouraged by The Hub at ADM. Share this development with your Church and broader Christian community, and submit an application if you think this is for you! We d love you to join us, Kate Kate Harrison Brennan CEO, Anglican Deaconess Ministries
The Hub is made up of women selected by ADM who lead for-profits, not-for-profits, and cultural initiatives seeking to bring about gospel-centred renewal. Through the community of The Hub at ADM, Christian formation and collaborative hospitality are fostered, while the diverse initiatives of the various organisations seek gospel-centred renewal. Background - About ADM The Hub is primarily a Christian community, invited to work in and be part of a common space, hosted by Anglican Deaconess Ministries ADM raises up Christian women with theological formation for practical and public engagement. The organisation was founded in 1891 and, historically, deaconesses brought the gospel of Jesus Christ and provided Christian care to disadvantaged people. They were at the forefront of training and equipping women for a lifetime of Christian ministry. Today, ADM s key areas of ADM s ministry, supported by our endowment, are: theological formation; mercy & justice; and public engagement.
Join the Class of 2016 We are offering the opportunity to join The Hub to a very select group of Christian women, who are leading organisations and initiatives. You would join the newly formed community of The Hub, which the Founding Cohort began in November 2015. The Class of 2016 will be offered an initial 6 months of office access (from 26 April to 28 October 2016). This co-working space will be within the ADM offices on Level 1 of St Andrew s House, 464-480 Kent St, Sydney. During that time, a formal program will run over 4 months, with a weekly 1.5 hour session that we would invite you to co-design, and then to take part. All Hub Members will be invited to apply to be selected to pitch at an annual funding event hosted by ADM. We will also be looking to the Class of 2016 to work with us to establish further the Christian character of The Hub community and its practices, in preparation for the Class of 2017. After the formal program for 2016 is complete, and your initial access to the office comes to an end, it is intended that your individual membership of The Hub community would be on-going.
